Name: Lyn (birthname: Lyndis Mercutio, though she never uses it or aknowledges it)
Age: 22
Gender: female
Race: Demon/Dark elf hybrid
Appearance: She had blue skin from her mother, and red eyes, orange hair, two-inch long horns and a very long, orange-furred tail from her father.
Family: Mother: Srintella Mercutio, matriarch of the Mercutio family, deceased Father: Jotunn, chief of the Onis. Half Siblings: Malvae Mercutio, Altieri Mercutio, Milia Mercutio, several others that she has had no contact with
Personality: Lyn usually seems aloof to people that she doesn't know. With them, she doesn't speak much, simply watching for the most part. Once a person becomes her friend, though, she is fiercely protective of them. It is possible to tell when she is talking with her friends, as she always has a small smile on her face and is speaking with some sarcasm. When dealing with people she doesn't like, she can become vicious, often threatening physical harm. Her eyes can glow during times like these, though that is nothing but a trick she discovered to intimidate people.
Weapons: A naginata that can shrink to the size of a dagger made from the soul of the first demon she ever killed (Susanoo), a katana that seems to follow Lyn everywhere despite not being able to move and occasionally gives off a bloodthirsty aura (Stalker), and several daggers of varying sizes that Lyn hides on her person.
Normal outfit: A black set of trenchcoat, armor, pants, boots, and gloves.
Brief history: Lyn was given into the care of human nomads shortly after she was born. She does not remember her mother in the least, as the woman ran as soon as she could. She grew up as the youngest child in the clan of nomads, and was picked on a bit for her odd coloring. When she was thirteen, a demon attacked her clan, looking for her while she was off fetching water from a nearby well. She arrived just in time for the demon to start to kill her clan. When the demon turned on her, she killed it with nothing but her bare hands. Her tail and horns sprouted then, though her horns were half an inch in length at the time. The demon turned into a weapon out of respect for her power, and told her his name: Susanoo. What happened between this time and when she arrived in Durem when she was eighteen is something she still keeps mostly to herself, though she tells her friends some of what happened as she grows to trust them.
Lyn took a job with the once-popular Shin-Ra corporation, the pet that she had acquired many years before often following her to work. Any hint that she was an accomplished fighter was erased as she worked in the genetics lab. She surprisingly didn't stick out there, as many a coworker had had incidents that changed their body appearance drastically. She left the service of the corporation after a coworker lost his arm trying to protect her from an experiment from another lab that had gone out of control. Tamaki, her pet, ingested a casimir seed while following her here, allowing him to fly.
Lyn then drifted from job to job, getting a full-body tattoo and befriending Devin as she did. When she was twenty, she acquired Stalker, a sentient katana that sent her into a berserking rage. She sealed the sword's aura the best she could, and carried it around with her to keep any others from getting their hands on the dangerous weapon. It was during this time that she met Dante and his friends at Devil May Cry ((During the 2010 Halloween event)). Events occured, leading up to her being sent into another rage by the sword and returning to normal only when her own blood fell onto the blade. While she was weak from bloodloss, the sword was stolen by a demon lord, who absorbed both its essence and some of her essence, due to the blood still on the blade. She was used as a puppet by that demon lord and another that stole his powers, until she accompanied Dante and the others to kill the one that held the connection to her spirit. The day after, she and Aurion, a new friend, went to the lair of Aurion's deceased father to look for clues on his mother. While they were there, Lyn encountered the demon Jotunn, and discovered that he had sired her on a dark elf woman that he'd kept as a slave.
Afterwards, Lyn moved in next door to Devil May Cry, and took up both Animated hunting and Demon hunting, getting missions from Dante's friend Lady. Close to the winter solstice, Tess, another of Lyn's new friends, came to Lyn with a job that needed Lyn's help. She agreed to help, and donned the disguise of Lady Onikana, a pure-blood dark elf scholar in alchemic arts. She was startled to find that they wished her to summon a specific demon, but did so for them, finding it a little odd that they merely wished to speak with the demon on their disappeared matriarch. She understood once Jotunn stepped through the portal that she had found her mother's kin. A battle between Jotunn and Lyn and her friends ensued, which caused Lyn to reveal her true self and go into what Dante and his friends called 'Devil Trigger', which gave her much power.
Over the next winter, strange black creatures started to swarm around Durem, unlike any known demons. Lyn and her friends were hired to fight these strange creatures, all the while the infestation grew worse and worse, as more and more people disappeared from the cities. After a particularly difficult fight, Lyn required the services of Bradley, a doctor that Dante had befriended many years before. Tess, one of Lyn's good friends, offered to go with Bradley back to his city to wipe out the strange 'shadow imps', the name they had given the Heartless, that were starting to appear in the small city. The day after, several people stumbled into Dante's shop, one of whom was a face from Lyn's past: Fel, her old roommate and lover. The two had a falling-out, which resulted in Lyn leaving the shop to find a quieter place to sleep in her own apartment, where she discovered a stranger was waiting to speak with her. After a short conversation, Lyn made a mistake, agreeing to help the man find what he was searching for. Within two days, the stranger had betrayed her tentative trust, sending her into a trap where five large Heartless waited to battle her. Dante and the others were fighting at an amusement park, along with Sora, another of the strangers that had appeared, when a shell of Lyn found the battle. The shell, Lysind, watched for a few moments before the stranger that had betrayed Lyn found her and convinced her to aid him. Lysind then searched though Dante's shop for the mysterious Keyhole as Dante and the others returned from their battle. Lysind and the one she obeyed battled the ones Lyn had called friends, and both fell, though not without Lysind revealing some control over ice. Some time after Lysind fell, Lyn was found in the place where the trap had been set. Aurion, her roommate, collected her and brought her back to Dante's shop. Once she woke, she was surprised by a kiss placed on her by her roommate, who had had an obvious crush on her since they had met.
