what's happened in Japan: absolutely horrendous. can't even begin to imagine the amount of devastation that's been left. i'm praying they will be able to successfully stabilise the reactors. Reading the news has been a confusing bit of business, there's exaggeration on one part and underplay on the other. So until something happens I'm clinging to hope that the Japanese will be able to successfully cope with this problem.
I'm not a big fan of nuclear energy myself--I distrust things I can't fully control, you see--so hopefully this situation will push governments to look into other energy sources, e.g. solar, at least until they can 100% confirm that nuclear technology is risk-free. which is probably a very big ask. Though achievable. there is obviously a reason why i'm stuck with research and other people are scientists. mrgreen
All my thoughts are with you japan. Still looking for a reputable relief effort to donate to. it's hard not to take some of these things with a pinch of salt...
