I dreamed of you.
A perfect dream a wonderful dream…
But only a dream.

A fiction of my minds eye, playing out making my heart empty when my eyes open
Only a dream.
A dream in which I finally had in my grasp that which I had been searching for, wishing for, for years.
And yet the sunlight slants in my window and takes it from me as quickly as the vanishing night.

It seemed so real. Your voice your diction it was all there. Coming together to talk about things we both know. It seemed so real. So plausible. For you to be looking into my eyes and talking with me like this.
But deep down I knew we never talk like that.
And then
You kissed me
Not once but twice!
And that is when I knew it must be but a dream. Because I wasn’t angry. I was happy.
And now I’m lost in confusion,
Wondering why, it was joy and not pain that consumes me.
Only a dream.
So why is it that it haunts me like it was real. Like my eyes had been open and not closed. My heart knowing and not caught off guard.
A dream.
