For those who don't know, I'm in my school's pit for our upcoming production of Hair, one of my all-time favorite musicals, if not my top favorite. I'm on bari, and I have some nasty music in this.
Anyway. It's been inspiring me a lot, along with the beat generation. Like Ginsberg and Kerouac. They had this whole thing about shaping life to make it what they want, and stuff. And not settling down- never sitting down and sitting still. Kind of modern gypsies.
As for Hair, it's mainly these songs;
Where Do I Go?
Ain't Got No (Reprise)
Ain't Got No (not I'm Black- they're just grouped together).
Colored Spade
I really kind of want to write about a group of young folks living on their own, probably not as peaceful.
I have some vague character ideas. A character who I can basically hear singing "Colored Spade", a character who smokes a lot, and that's about it.
The group would be bigger, though. And they'd have one of these. I don't even know what I'd do with them other than have them wandering around being non-conformists. But. That was basically the basis of the beat generation's writing too.
So. I dunno.
