How far does a person grow,
When their minds are pushed back
By a woman's brow?
How long will a person walk
When only walking a path
Not forged or shaken by their own ambition?
How much love
Can one offer
When the best things
They hear
Come from the white tongue
Of a smiling, fast-food fortune cookie?
I have been that following,
that lame,
that desperate...
I have been the cookie's favorite child,
And like that mother cookie,
My heart would crumble in one bite
Does one seek love or does
A Force press Itself to give us love?
I have never truly believed or known nor will,
But a mind's patience can long outlast the will of hearts;
This I do know, and
When the crumbs of the cookie's star child meet together,
It is not a test of patience,
nor obiedience or following
That mends these unstitchable scars;
It is the infallible faith to an infallible passion
That makes beggers into masters of destiny,
The blind into true visionaries,
And principle values of the reading class.
This was a bit of a first shot at this poem I thought up one day in my car. What do you think? What came to mind when you read it? I'm eager to hear your reflections on my poem! =)
