It was a sunny day. I looked up at the sky and squinted my eyes. "Im blinded!" I shouted and had a mini tweek out moment. I heard my dad scream "Kayla!". I sighed. I suddenly picked a flower stuck it in my hair and went inside. He was glaring at me. I glared back at him. "What?" I said with a snobby tone. He then stepped closer. Then he hit my arm right on my bruise.I screamed"Ow!" And I swear tears almost slid down my face. He said "Never talk to me in that tone again. Now im going. Youll be here for 3 weeks, get a job at McDonalds or something." My face went blank. "Ok" I said and started to go up stairs to my room. Before I got to the last step he added "Oh Yeah. And your also getting a new mother." My face was still a "..." expression. I said "you mean that whore?" And I quickly ran to my room and locked the door. I could hear him coming up the stairs. He started slamming his body against the door. "YOU COME BACK OUT HERE.NEVER TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT." My first thought was.."s**t." I quickly packed up a bunch of my stuff in my backpack and I crawled out my window. When I got to the ground I stumbled and ran back out the gate. The purple flower in my hair fell out. But at that moment I wouldnt care. I started running down the street and I was so focused on getting away that I ran into someone. He fell back and I fell on top of him. My faced turn completly red "Im so so so SORRY!" But then I noticed who it was. James! Holy s**t. I had a Major crush on him for more than a year, and I dont even think he knew my name. My face turned redder. "I was just uhh..."
But then he replyed "In a hurry? And you ok? Your face is all red." Our faces were close together. But for some reason I was frozen. Then he spoke. "Uhhh...hey can you get up?" My mind sighed. "Im sorry! I should have got up sooner." That made my face go even redder. I got up and so did he. Damn he was so hot. Medium brown hair cut in that cute style that I loved. Light gray eyes and a beautiful face. But Id never tell him that. Total embaressment. Then I heard him says "Its ok. By the way my names James." I looked at him. "I know. My names Kayla if you didnt know.I really gotta get on my way though. You were right I was in a hurry."
"Why?"
"Well...Im running away, and my dads chasing me."
He looked at me with a puzzled expression. Then he laughed. I didnt know why though. "Arent you supposed to not tell your parents your leaving?"
"Well uhmz about that....I kinda had to run away." I said holding my arm. I still dont know why the hottest guy in the world was talking to me. But I kinda liked it.
"Well where do you plan on going?"
"Probably that old motel down the street. I dont have that much money. So im gunna have to do something to get some money."
He reached into his pocket and grabbed a twenty. He handed it to me. "Heres some to help get you started on your own."
I blushed. "Thank you so much" And I gave him a hug. And suprisingly he hugged me back. I enjoyed this fine moment while it lasted. Then he said still hugging me. "Ive always noticed you standing alone but I never got the guts to say hi. Your a really nice girl."
"Im super shy though"
He laughed. "I guess thats why your face is so red."
Then. The worst thing happened. I was so focused on james and me that my dad had the time to catch up. He grabbed my long blonde and brown hair and pulled me to the ground. Tears filled my eyes and i screamed. "Why wont you leave me have one happy moment in my life!" I said tugging away. Very embaressed as James watched me and my WONDERFUL dad. Once I got up James grabbed me and pulled me close. "Sir, you may be her dad. But dont ever do that again." He said with the scariest voice I ever heard. Even my dads eyes widened a little. My dad spoke up "Well then come on wimpy, fight me like a man." He raised his fists. James looked down at me with eyes saying, should I?
I shook my head. He may have hurt me a lot, But he was still my dad. I said "Dad, im 18, I have legal rights to leave whenever I want. And Im leaving." I got out of james arms and started walking away. The back of my head got wet. I felt it and looked at my hand. Blood. I started running. When I was away from my dad and james. I sat down on the sidewalk holding my head. It hurt badly, and I hadnt noticed it that whole time. I started crying, i'd miss my room, all my stuff. But I didnt miss my dad. All those years of being beaten, holding my back, and ruining my life. Then I thought about those 10 minutes with james. He actually talked to me. And he seemed like he cared. huh. How weird. I heard footsteps behind me. I perked up. And looked around. I said "Whos there?" And I noticed i forgot my pepper spray. s**t. I stood up, looked around and yet seen knowone. Was I imagining things? My head was still bleeding. I heard a whisper. "Oooo that sweeeett smellll....commmee heeeerrree dddarrrlling......" My eyes got big and I started runnign away. Then I bumped into someone. Again. How wonderful. But this time we didnt fall. He stood there like a rock.His hand went around my head and touched my wound. I yelled "Dont touch me!". He let go, looked at my blood on his fingers and licked it. My eyes got huge and I ran. He scrapped my arm and hell ithurt. I entered to motel. And I saw james sitting there. "Why are you here?"
Long silence and then he said. "I noticed you were hurt, and I knew you were coming here. SO ta-da. Here I am."
"But Im a dork. Why would you care?"
"Your not a dork. And Cause....even though I barley know you, I feels it my job to protect you." He hugged me. He felt odly...cold. Much colder than when we were on the curb. Just thinking about it made me dizzy. "I really need to get my room." No matter how much she adored james she couldnt get that other guy outta her head.
"If you want..." he blushed this time. "You could stay at my house. Theres a extra room..."
"Uhm I dont know."
He put his hands through mine and said "please..I sense this place isnt safe. Dont you think?"
I thought about it.
"Yeah your right. Ill stay at your place tonight. But thats it. Ill think of somewhere else to stay today."
He hugged me tight and whispered "Thank you."
