I have been playing Pokemon since the games first came out. It used to be fun because there wasn't that much to think about besides stats and types. Now though, there's "ev training" and then "IVs" to top it off. It makes Pokemon much more complicated than it used to be, and it lessens some Pokemon's potential, and it exaggerates other Pokemon's potential. It's really getting on my nerves! I wish that Pokemon could have stayed the way it was in the beginning. Now I feel like I don't have a chance any more, and that I can't use the Pokemon I like, because if I do, I'll lose. I'm pretty competitive, and if I lose, I tend to get super angry. I don't need that kind of stress! And don't say that I don't EV train because I'm lazy. It's simply not true. It's only because it's BORING. How can I find it fun to battle Pokemon and trainers endlessly for certain stats, for HOURS? Even with the Action Replay, it still takes a long time unless you want to hack stats. Which I feel is beneath me. Filling the Pokedex; pretty fun, especially with international trade. Leveling up to 100; bearable, especially with Action Replay. But EV training is simply too complicated and tedious. And it makes Pokemon seem like drones. I know that they are pixels; data. But what drew me into Pokemon was their individuality; they had personalities. It made me wish Pokemon were real. Now everybody traind Pokemon in identical ways. There's nothing to make it personal. I think that people have made Pokemon less than it used to be. There's no REAL competition; only repetition. I miss the old days, when there were no "natures". When natures were first introduced, I thought it was pretty cool because it seemed to make my Pokemon more real. But now, ironically, natures seem to take away from a Pokemon. Because now, if a Pokemon has the wrong nature, you decide to toss it. We're all clones of Paul (from the anime). We have no heart. All we care about is power, not the individual Pokemon.
And even if that was all you cared about before, at least you didn't do exactly the same thing as everyone else. Now there are even less Pokemon that are worth using than there were in the first place. It's a sad, sad day for Pokemon battling....
