:] So today...yesterday made a nice introduction to October.
* o* Beautiful month, October. Full of Ghastly Awesomeness with Orange, Black, and lots of pretty Autumn colors.
.__. I miss NYC.
Back home, every year, I under appreciated the Yellow-Green-Orange-Red-Brown of the leaves from the oak trees in my neighborhood.
I mean, I did appreciate them lots ! But I just feel that it wasn't enough now that I don't have the beautiful sight anymore.
My garden especially x ox
Was so much full of awesome.
During spring it's a colorful playpen for the lady bug larvae.
During the summer, it's a bloody jungle for the green grasshoppers
- there was this really cute one that carried a little baby on it's back -
During fall, it again becomes colorful and warm with all the red hues. My favorite leaf color was the yellow oaks that had red blooming on the edges. The yellow just looked amazing, and with the red edges, it had a beautiful gradient of chaotically organized orange in between.
During winter, my garden was a Winter Wonderland.
Every time the snow fell, it accumulated untouched on the ground, the trees, the tree branches, the little rotten red wild apples that grew on that strange apple tree - they looked more like cherries, but without the shiny skin, and tasted like sour apples when they were green. The birds ate them. Cute little birds. All year round, we kept a very pretty chrome bronze bird feeder. We had many trees, although the biggest one was the wild apple tree. Thing hurt like hell to climb. Very cool tree. I miss it.
I miss the summer storms - We had a huge modern window in the living room that looked out into the garden. We'd lift all the shades and we'd watch the crazy waterfall that came from he sky, and enjoyed the sound of the thunder that lagged behind the lightning.
Every now and then, we'd get awesome Tropical Storms. Winds blew like crazy. So much pretty.
The Snow Storms were just amazing !
Especially at night. Every time I went outside during a blizzard, the sky was dark, but lit pink. The snow sort of absorbed all the sound waves around it, so there was always a strange and phenomenal silence which made the lonely street feel like it was the only place that existed in this universe.
Despite that I hate the cold, Vegas has made me miss it. It's the only time of the year that I can relate it to home. The air has a particular smell, even here that smells just like winter at home. I loved last year that it snowed so much !
What's funny, I think it was really my fault. My roommate asked me a week before, "Hey Ruby, what would you wish for this year, if you could have anything?"
I said to her, "I wish it would snow, like in NY, or at least a little snow fall, so it'd feel a bit like home ^ ^. Despite how far fetched the wish may be, and that it would probably not happen, that's all I wish for :]."
Sure enough, the day came. I woke up that day, and I was going to go about my way to visit Rusty at Pick Up Stix. To my fricken surprise, it was snowing heavily ! I had finished my last class, lol so no school. It took so long for the bus to get there, so I got kind of soaked ^ ^;; I wasn't prepared for snow in Vegas xD !
I finally got to Pick Up Stix. Russ was really excited. I know he likes the cold weather, but the snow was just like "wut?" in an awesome way.
I ate my meal, and for the first time, I actually ate my fortune cookie. I never liked them before.
Inside, the fortune read to me: "Today, Your greatest wish will come true."
O 3O I showed it to my roommate.
It just kept snowing until it was a good 2-3 feet in my neighborhood. x ox 9 feet in Anthem? scary. The most I've seen in NY is 6 feet I believe? This is also in the city, where it's warmer.
:] Igloos are fun to make !
>..> I need to find that fortune. I know I saved it somewhere.
