He cocked his head toward the east. The sun was rising almost into full morning glory. He had heard the sound. Without a word, he motioned to his partner to follow him. Each window was large and rectangular, showing a beautiful view of New York City. Their Shock-Suits made the air around them fizz and cackle with static. His partner, a black haired female with red highlights, nodded in affirmation and silently dashed up the steps to the next floor.
“I hear them.” He said. They were crouching down, the closed door between them. The soft whirr of the X-Hornet Helicopter prototype could be heard on the other side of the door. Many voiced were faint under the hum of the helicopter. The female adjusted her sunglasses and brushed a stray lock of her behind her ear.
“One…two…three” The female kicked open the door with a perfectly executed Half-Crescent kick and stormed onto the roof, her partner in tow. In a flash, the male took out two slim and shiny katanas. Though the dark stain under it suggested much blood had been drawn in battles before. There were 10 men in total. 2 powerful mafia dons and 8 worthless minions. The male front flipped into the air, dodging bullets. He brought his swords down onto 2 of the 8 goons and sealed their fate. The female pulled out twin handguns, each powerfully charged with solar-blasts. 3 goons were blasted off the roof and fell 100 stories to their death. 5 down, 3 to go, the assassins both thought.
The male plunged his sword into one goon’s chest and kicked another off the roof. The female shot exactly four bullets into the last goon’s body. The two mafia leaders started laughing maniacally.
“You two are having so much fun, right?” One of the men asked. He took out his Beretta 9mm and shot. Quickly, the male took his swords and swiped them together, cutting the bullet clean in half.
“You’re right.” The female said and shot the leader square in the head. A spurt of blood erupted from his face as it collapsed into his own body. He stumbled back for a few grotesque moments, face blown off, yet his sense of direction and balance betrayed him. He stumbled off the roof. The remaining one stood up and stared at them with devilish meaning. Something was wrong.
“I’m not here. Kids, you guys never heard of holographics? They send kids to kill me and I get two dumbfounded toddlers.” The last leader said and laughed hard. The male cursed. The female took her aim and shot. The blast went through the person.
“We should’ve known! He was a holographic image!” The male angrily thrust his sword into the corpse of a goon. The female stared at him with curiosity.
“We’ll find him.”
