Anime series # Title Original airdate English airdate 01 "To Challenge the Sun" "Taiyō ni Idomu Mono" (太陽に挑む者) October 4, 2003 November 6, 2004 In a brief flashback two young boys, Edward and Alphonse Elric, attempt to perform an alchemical transmutation. Something goes horribly wrong. Alphonse disappears, Edward is missing his left leg and right arm, and a grotesque figure reminiscent of their mother appears out of the transmutation circle. The scene switches to the current day and the brothers are seen walking across a desert. They arrive at Lior, where they hear about a religious leader named Father Cornello who can invoke miracles. Rosé, a young woman who works for Cornello, takes the brothers to him. When they see Cornello perform a "miracle," they realize he is performing alchemy, but is ignoring the Law of Equivalent Exchange and think that the gem that Cornello has is the Philosopher's Stone. Feeling the pressure from the brothers, Cornello orders his right-hand man, Cray, to kill them. Cray, however, fails because Al has no head, and Rosé, scared for her life after witnessing Cray shoot Al to no effect, runs to Cornello. Al and Ed chase after her, and Cornello attacks them when they arrive. When his attacks fail, he realizes that the brothers committed the ultimate sin—a human transmutation—and use auto-mail, hence Ed's nickname, "The Fullmetal Alchemist." 02 "Body of the Sanctioned" "Kinki no Karada" (禁忌の身体) October 11, 2003 November 13, 2004 The brothers reveal that they were trying to revive their mother and they warn Rosé that reviving her boyfriend, Cain, would result a similar fate. Cornello then attacks them, and they barely escape. To comfort Rosé, Cornello shows her a silhouette of Cain. He then orders the townspeople to attack and capture the Elrics, which they do. Cornello catches Rosé trying to visit Cain and he reveals the silhouette to be a chimera made of birds. He leaves her to be eaten by the chimera, but Al arrives just in time to save her. When Cornello tells Ed his plan to use Lior as the base for world domination, Al broadcasts it across town. Ed then defeats Cornello with his superior alchemy, but Cornello's Philosopher's Stone turns out to be a fake. Ed and Al leave in disgust and Lust and Gluttony clean up behind themselves by killing Cornello and replacing him with Envy masquerading as the "real" Cornello.
03 "Mother" "Okaa-san..." (おかあさん……) October 18, 2003 November 20, 2004 In a flashback episode, Ed and Al learn alchemy from a very young age, taking after their father, who apparently abandoned his family some time ago. They show their alchemy to both their friend, Winry Rockbell, and their mother, Trisha Elric. Trisha encourages them, but she dies from a sudden illness and the brothers vow to revive them with alchemy. They apprentice themselves to Izumi Curtis, and after her training, they attempt to resurrect Trisha, but Ed loses his left leg and Al loses his entire body. Ed sacrifices his arm to attach Al’s soul to a suit of armor, and Al carries Ed’s broken body to Rockbell Automail to get him automail limbs. Roy Mustang tries to recruit them for the army after receiving a letter about their father, Hohenheim, and seeing the attempt at human transmutation, but Pinako Rockbell orders him to leave. Ed gains automail limbs and decides to become a State Alchemist so he can use the State’s research materials. He and Al leave Risembool and burn down their childhood home. 04 "A Forger's Love" "Ai no Rensei" (愛の錬成) October 25, 2003 November 27, 2004 On their way to Central City, Ed and Al take a detour to meet an alchemist named Majihal, whose name had appeared several times in their father's correspondences. Upon entry into Majihal's village, they are warned that a zombie has murdered several villagers. Klose, a young child, asks the brothers to avenge her sister's death. Majihal talks to the brothers and they discover that he has been attempting to revive Karin, his former lover who died in an accident. He has been using the souls of the village girls to power his mannequins. Karin, however, turns out to have not died, but has aged. Majihal refuses to accept the fact that Karin, now old and wrinkled, did not die and attempts to kill Ed. In self-defense, Ed knocks Majihal's weapon out of his hand, which flies into the air and accidentally impales Majihal. Klose reveals herself to be a girl, reverts to being feminine, and the brothers continue on their journey. 05 "The Man with the Mechanical Arm" "Shissō! Ōtomeiru" (疾走!機械鎧) November 1, 2003 December 4, 2004 Edward and Alphonse are told by Mustang to board the train that is currently leaving the station. Their train is hijacked by a group of terrorists led by a man named Bald. They take General Haruko, who happens to be on the train, and his family captive and demand that their leader is released from prison. Ed and Al fight back, however, and meet Major Maes Hughes, who helps them defeat Bald and rescue the General. The train arrives safely at the station and the military moves in to arrest the terrorists. Bald manages to escape, but Mustang demonstrates his abilities as "The Flame Alchemist" and restrains Bald. Mustang then informs Ed that the grateful General Hakuro has given Ed special permission to take the State Alchemy Examination, which surprises and annoys Ed because of the implication that Mustang manipulated him. 06 "The Alchemy Exam" "Kokka Renkinjutsushi Shikaku Shiken" (国家錬金術師資格試験) November 8, 2003 December 11, 2004 Ed and Al begin preparing for the Alchemy Exam while lodging with Shou Tucker, "The Sewing-Life Alchemist," who is well-known for creating intelligent chimeras. The brothers become fast friends with Tucker's daughter, Nina, and her dog, Alexander. Elrics' cramming is only interrupted when Hughes and his wife, Gracia, throw a birthday party for Ed. During the party, Gracia goes into labor and they witness the birth of Elicia. Ed discovers at this time that he can perform alchemy without a transmutation circle. After the written portion of the test, Mustang forces Al to drop out so Al's lack of a body due to the attempted Human Transmutation is not revealed. Ed successfully passes the interview and passes the practical portion "with flying colors" when he saves the entire prospective State Alchemist group with his quick thinking, courage, and ability to transmute without a transmutation circle. 07 "Night of the Chimera's Cry" "Kimera ga Naku Yoru" (合成獣が哭く夜) November 15, 2003 December 18, 2004 Ed, having passed the State Alchemy Exam, now is a "dog of the military." Mustang gives Edward a silver pocket watch, a symbol of Ed's rank and an alchemical amplifier. Edward writes a letter to Winry, his childhood friend, and Nina writes one to her mother, who disappeared two years ago and hasn't been responding to Nina's letters. Tucker, up for his State Alchemist re-certification, needs to pass or he cannot continue to care for his daughter. In his desperation, he turns Nina and her dog into a chimera just like he turned his wife into one. When Ed discovers this, he nearly kills Tucker in his rage, but is stopped by the military, who came to arrest Tucker. The Nina-Alexander chimera runs off and is killed by a man with a large, X-shaped scar on his face. When Ed finds its remains, blown apart from the inside by alchemy, he breaks down into tears. 08 "The Philosopher's Stone" "Kenja no Ishi" (賢者の石) November 22, 2003 January 1, 2005 Anguished by the horrible consequences of Tucker's new alchemic research and disgusted at his first assignment, organizing Tucker's research, including the malformed chimeric specimens, Ed considers deserting his new career with the State Military. Ed is told that Tucker himself was immediately executed, without a trial, because his guilt was so obvious. Winry, who has arrived at Central to visit Ed and Al, is kidnapped by a serial killer butcher named Barry, who disguised himself as a woman and calls himself Barry the Chopper. Barry also captures Ed as he tries to rescue her, but when Barry tries to execute Ed, he defeats Barry using alchemy, and almost kills Barry before Alphonse arrives and stops him. The authorities take Barry away, as Ed breaks down and cries in front of Al after experiencing so much. Following Ed's work, King Bradley officially gives Ed his second name: "Full Metal." 09 "Be Thou for the People" "Gun no Inu no Gindokei" (軍の狗の銀時計) November 29, 2003 January 8, 2005 Ed and Al take Winry shopping to try to cheer up. They enjoy themselves, but Ed receives his second assignment: inspecting the coal mines at the town of Youswell. Upon arriving in Youswell, Ed is kicked out of the single inn in Youswell. Lieutenant Yoki, the military commander in charge of the area, appears and tries to collect taxes from the inn but a riot erupts and Yoki nearly kills Kyle, the inn owner’s son before Ed appears and saves Kyle’s life. Noticing that Ed is a state alchemist, Ed is invited to Yoki’s mansion, where he is both flattered and bribed. At night, the inn blows up, presumably by Yoki’s orders, and Al saves Kyle from under the rubble. Upon discovering the ruined inn, Ed transmutes gold bars and purchases the mine from Yoki under the guise of a money-less transfer. Ed then returns the bars to stone and sells the entire town to the people of Youswell for a single night stay at the inn, which he repaired. Yoki tries to fight back, but Ed easily defeats his alchemist, Lira, and becomes known as the hero of the people. 10 "The Phantom Thief" "Kaitō Sairēn" (怪盗サイレーン) December 6, 2003 January 15, 2005 After exposing Father Cornello in Lior as a fraud, Ed and Al are on their way back to report to Colonel Mustang about the incident. They stop at the town of Aquroya and get caught up in the manhunt for a talented cat burglar, Psiren, who uses her skills as an alchemist to make fools of the local police time and again. The Chief of Police hopes to fight fire with fire by using Ed to catch Psiren. Three times, Psiren tricks Ed and Al into thinking that she steals for the good of the people; saving certain buildings from being torn down. But each time, the building gets demolished anyway and Psiren gets away with it. Alphonse, still believing that Psiren is really a good person, tries to stop Ed from catching Psiren before she gets away with the loot. Finally in a last battle, Ed captures Psiren and hands her over to the police. Psiren still manages to escape and Ed realizes her importance as a draw for tourism in the sinking city of Aquroya. 11 "The Other Brothers Elric, Part 1" "Sareki no Daichi, Zenpen" (砂礫の大地•前編) December 13, 2003 January 22, 2005 On a tip from Psiren, Edward and Alphonse arrive in Xenotime to look for the Philosopher's Stone. They find a young girl trapped under a fallen mine cart and save her using alchemy. The girl introduces herself as Elisa and brings them to the tavern. During the feast in their honor, the brothers hear that the Philosopher's Stone is near completion. A man named Mugwar has been researching the stone, but when Ed and Al introduce themselves, they discover that impostors have assumed their names. They sneak into Mugwar's mansion to meet the impostors, but the impostor is very skilled at alchemy and the real Elric brothers are forced to retreat. In the morning, Al goes to buy medicine for Elisa but is unable to do so because everybody in the town believes him to be an impostor. Fletcher, the younger fake Elric, meets Al and buys the medicine for him. At night, the real Elrics enter the mansion again. The older impostor uses red water to attack Ed, but Fletcher saves Ed and reveals the red water is toxic and has been poisoning the town. 12 "The Other Brothers Elric, Part 2" "Sareki no Daichi, Kōhen" (砂礫の大地•後編) December 20, 2003 January 29, 2005 Ed and Al depart from the mansion after Ed is saved by Fletcher. Mugwar, stunned at the damage dealt to the lab, asks the Tringham brothers to use an alternate method to speed up the creation of the red stone. When Russell refuses, Mugwar reveals that he knows the Tringhams are not the real Elrics and captures them. Back at the tavern, Ed and Al learn about Nash Tringham, Russell and Fletcher's father. The original discoverer of the red water, Nash soon left the city and was never seen again after the townspeople began to develop a disease following his research. The next day, the real Elric brothers are invited to research the red water by Mugwar. They agree, free the Tringhams, and corner Mugwar by asking about Nash. Mugwar responds by attacking the Elrics using the partial stone. With the help of the Tringhams, the Elrics overpower Mugwar, but he escapes to an underground lair. However, Mugwar collapses the underground passage, causing the red water to flood out of the spring. Fletcher, using his alchemy, makes the trees absorb the red water, neutralizing the threat. 13 "Fullmetal vs. Flame" "Honō VS Hagane" (焔VS鋼) December 27, 2003 February 5, 2005 Ed finally arrives in East City to report to Colonel Mustang on his investigation into the Philosopher's Stone. Fury picks up a dog and tries to get someone to adopt it but fails. Ed and Mustang discuss Ed's reports when Ed brings up Doctor Marcoh. Basque Gran enters and announces that Central Headquarters has moved to the Eastern Headquarters. At the lunchroom, Gran interrupts Ed and Hughes's discussion about Marcoh and declares that Marcoh was a deserter. When Ed discovers that he is up for recertification, he decides to Ed challenge Mustang to a duel in exchange for the information. The duel is approved and Mustang and Ed are set to fight in the parade grounds. Mustang nearly defeats Ed but hesitates, allowing Ed to counter. The match is halted and while cleaning up the mess they created, Mustang tells Ed about Marcoh. That night, Hughes reveals that a man named Scar is responsible for the Fuhrer's move.
14 "Destruction's Right Hand" "Hakai no Migite" (破壊の右手) January 10, 2004 February 12, 2005 Civil unrest has broken out in the town of Lior. Lust, Envy, and Gluttony discuss Ed's progress. Scar kills another State Alchemist in East City. Ed and Al find Marcoh and learn about the usage of the Philosopher's Stone in the Ishbal rebellion. Used as an amplification device for many alchemists' powers, the Stone increased damage by large amounts. Marcoh escaped from the army after the large scale destruction during the war and became a doctor to repent for his sins. Basque Gran, who was tailing Ed and Al, enters with soldiers, confiscates Marcoh's information on the Philosopher's Stone, and arrests Marcoh, leaving Ed and Al behind. However, Scar stops Basque's car and kills him. When Scar prepares to kill Marcoh as well, Ed grabs him and escapes, but they are pursued by Scar. Cornered into a tunnel, Ed and Al fight Scar and hold him long enough to be saved by Alex Louis Armstrong, the Strong Arm Alchemist.
15 "The Ishbal Massacre" "Ishuvāru Gyakusatsu" (イシュヴァール虐殺) January 17, 2004 February 19, 2005 Scar and Armstrong continue to duel, and Ed, Al, and Marcoh escape in the chaos. Armstrong discovers that Scar is from Ishbal and that he uses alchemy. Marcoh tells Ed and Al about the Ishbal rebellion. Ishbal, originally a peaceful region that only differed in religion, erupted in civil war when an officer accidentally shot a child. State Alchemists were liberally used against the Ishbalans, who viewed alchemy as heretical. Marcoh was asked by Basque Gran to provide transmutation amplification agents in the form of red stones to aid the war, which resulted in huge casualties on the Ishbalan side. Mustang, forced to kill a pair of doctors, who were saving lives from both sides, allows Marcoh to desert. When the doctors are revealed to be Winry's parents, Marcoh refuses to escape to Resembool with the brothers. Scar, fleeing from the military, runs into Ed and Al again and destroys Ed's arm and a section of Al's body. Marcoh throws his red stone at Scar, causing Scar great pain when Scar's arm absorbs the stone. Scar flees and the military arrives to rescue them. Marcoh is taken to a "safe location" by the Fuhrer's secretary. 16 "That Which is Lost" "Ushinawareta Mono" (失われたもの) January 24, 2004 February 26, 2005 Ed and Al head back to Resembool to repair Ed's broken arm and Al's broken armor, and Armstrong volunteers to tag along to protect them. Lust attacks Marcoh in his "safe house" and coerces him into revealing the location of his research on the Philosopher's Stone. She, along with Gluttony, then kills him and heads toward the National Central Library, 1st Branch. On the train to Resembool, Armstrong and Ed discover that Al was unloaded at the previous station and are forced to search for him. When Armstrong urges patience, Ed explodes in rage and abandons Armstrong. However, Ed is jumped and his leg is stolen by a young girl. The girl's father explains that he lost his leg during the Ishbal rebellion and that he wishes to retain his wound as a reminder of it and returns Ed's leg. Al, stolen by a boy who wishes to prove himself by raiding an enemy's mansion, scares the boy out of the attack by claiming he is a haunted armor. Ed and Al reunite and Armstrong reappears. Grabbing the brothers, Armstrong dashes toward the departing train hoping to catch it. 17 "House of the Waiting Family" "Kazoku no Matsu Ie" (家族の待つ家) January 31, 2004 March 5, 2005 Ed and Al return to Risembool with Armstrong and are greeted by Pinako. Winry, appalled by the damage sustained by the brothers, admonishes the pair. Pinako, understanding that the brothers need to return to Central urgently, agrees to repair Ed's arm and adjust Ed's leg in just three days. Armstrong, refusing to rest like the brothers are, helps out and tells Pinako and Winry about the Elric brothers' fame. Ed visits his mother's grave and both of the brothers reminisce about their childhood. While measuring Ed, Winry notices Ed's silver watch and becomes infatuated by it, but Ed refuses to let her dissemble it. When Ed and Al go upstairs to sleep, Al reveals that he is worried because of his fading memories, but Armstrong breaks the tension. A few days later, Ed has his mechanical joints reattached and is temporarily debilitated. When he regains his movement, he fixes Al and the two spar. Winry takes advantage of Ed's absence to investigate the watch. After the brothers finish sparring, Winry returns it to Ed in tears over the brothers' seeming lack of emotion. Ed and Al depart on a walk, telling Armstrong about their childhood. After the night, they depart and Winry and Pinako wish them a safe trip. 18 "Marcoh's Notes" "Marukō Nōto" (マルコー•ノート) February 7, 2004 March 12, 2005 In the library in Central City, Lust and Gluttony search for Marcoh's research. Scar, also looking for Marcoh's research, notices that Lust reminds him of someone he knows. When the pair attacks him however, he realizes that they are Homunculi. Returning from Resembool, Ed and Al arrive at Central by train and meet their new bodyguards, Maria Ross and Denny Brosh. When they arrive at the National Central Library, 1st Branch it is a smoldering mess and Ed and Al go on a exhaustive search to find other sources for the book. Hughes, reporting on the Library's destruction, notes that Scar was present, though he was probably fighting somebody. Ed and Al's search leads them to the house of a librarian named Sheska, who they find trapped under a pile of books. After they save her, she completes a report on the exact contents of Marcoh's document. The brothers work to decode it and discover that the Philosopher's Stone requires human lives. 19 "The Truth Behind Truths" "Shinjitsu no Oku no Oku" (真実の奥の奥) February 14, 2004 March 19, 2005 Ed and Al are horrified by the "truth behind truths" Marcoh's notes revealed about the key ingredient in making a Philosopher's Stone, and nearly give up their quest. Al tries to convince Ed to continue, but it is Maria Ross who inspires him to continue. Wanting to ascertain the truth for themselves, they decide to investigate Central's Fifth Laboratory, suspecting that the lab, officially closed for years, is secretly being used for research on the Philosopher's Stone. Ignoring the orders of Ross, they sneak out to investigate the laboratory themselves. Ed sneaks in via an air duct, leaving Al alone outside. Searching for Ed, Scar attacks the dormitories and gathers that the brothers have traveled to the Fifth Laboratory before the military apprehends him. Inside the lab, Ed triggers several traps before finally meeting Number 48, who declares his job as the laboratory's guard and attacks. Outside, a similarly dressed guard named Number 66 attacks Al. 20 "Soul of the Guardian" "Shugosha no Tamashii" (守護者の魂) February 21, 2004 March 26, 2005 Each of the Elric brothers finds himself in fierce battle with a guard of Laboratory 5. However, both brothers soon discover that the guards are identical to Al; the guards are souls bound to empty suits of armor. Number 48 reveals himself as Slicer, a serial killer, and Number 66 reveals himself as Barry the Chopper, who the brothers helped arrest. Though Ed feels his auto-mail failing, he manages to grab Slicer's helmet, immobilizing Slicer. However, Slicer reveals that he was in fact two brothers and the suit of armor continues to attack. Remembering his goal, an exhausted Ed finally disables Slicer. The Slicer brothers ask for death, calling themselves inhuman, but Ed refuses because it would force him to admit that Al isn't human either. Outside, Barry the Chopper is stunned to find that Al is a suit of armor as well. However, he manages to convince Al that Al's personality and memories were all fake implants, and remembering the question that Ed failed to ask in Resembool, Al begins to wonder. 21 "The Red Glow" "Akai Kagayaki" (紅い輝き) February 28, 2004 April 2, 2005 Alphonse's battle with Barry the Chopper is interrupted by the arrival of Scar, who easily defeats Barry. However, Barry sets of a series of explosions and escapes. These explosions manage to free Greed, who frees people from the cells around him. Slicer agrees to take Ed to the interior of the lab, but Slicer's little brother commits suicide after Ed calls him human. Kimblee, the Crimson Alchemist, and several other prisoners are led by a fake Basque Gran to be ingredients for the Stone. Ed and Slicer are attacked by mutant chimeras but Shou Tucker, who has become a chimera himself, stops them. As Scar and Al travel into the lab, Scar reminisces about his brother and Ishbal, but they are attacked by Lust and Gluttony, who Scar reveals to be Homunculi. Tucker shows Ed around the lab and Ed realizes that he has been given the opportunity to create the Philosopher's Stone. 22 "Created Human" "Tsukurareta Ningen" (造られた人間) March 6, 2004 April 9, 2005 Knowing that the Elric brothers have gone to Laboratory 5, Maes Hughes organizes an expedition to rescue them. Above Ed, Envy gathers the human ingredients for Ed's attempt to transmute a Philosopher's Stone. Führer King Bradley joins Hughes' expedition and mobilizes the military to save the Elric brothers. Kimblee sets off an explosion, causing the prisoners to fall into the room below. Ed, surprised at the "ingredients," questions why they are here, but Envy, Lust, and Gluttony appear and give Edward and ultimatum: transmute the Philosopher's Stone or watch Alphonse's blood seal be broken and Alphonse killed. Edward struggles, almost transmuting the Stone against Al's wishes, but Scar bursts in from above and Ed's body begins reacting with the incomplete Stone, destroying his surroundings. The Homunculi escape as the military invades the base, and Ed is finally calmed by Maria Ross. 23 "Fullmetal Heart" "Hagane no Kokoro" (鋼のこころ) March 13, 2004 April 16, 2005 Edward, recovering from his wounds from Labratory 5, is scolded by Maria Ross for almost dying. Winry realizes she forgot one of the parts of Edward's arm and hastens to Central to fix Ed's arm. Hughes, investigating the Laboratory, asks Edward about the events, and Ed reveals the existance of the Homunculi. Winry arrives in Central and is guided to Ed by Major Armstrong. After the brothers refuse to tell her about the events, she leaves in a fury and is dragged off by Hughes to celebrate Hughes's daugher's birthday. While at the party, Winry learns about how to care for the brothers and she returns to repair Ed's arm. After Ed is repaired, he fixes Al, but Al, still believing that his memories are fake, asks Ed about the truthfulness of his memories and when Ed's answer isn't satisfactory, he attacks Ed and runs away. 24 "Bonding Memories" "Omoide no Teichaku" (思い出の定着) March 20, 2004 April 23, 2005 Alphonse has run away. Colonel Mustang he will work under him and help push him to the top so he can become Führer, and make the country a better place. Back in the present, Hughes' investigation into the incidents at Laboratory Five leads him to discover a conspiracy within the military concerning the war in Ishbal and the Philosopher's Stone. 26 "Her Reason" "Kanojo no Riyū" (彼女の理由) April 3, 2004 May 7, 2005 Izumi Curtis, Ed and Al's teacher, shows up at Central looking for them, but she has missed them by a few days. Edward Elric now lives in Munich, Germany, in the year 1921. Stripped of his alchemical powers, he has been researching rocketry all this time together with Alphonse Heiderich, a young man who resembles his own brother. In this world parallel to his, Edward encounters some people besides Alphonse whose faces are familiar to him. After lending a hand to a troubled gypsy girl, Noah, Edward is thrown in a series of events that can open him a path to return to his homeworld, where Alphonse Elric ventures deeper into the mysteries of alchemy in search of a way to reunite with his older brother, but that also can have serious consequences. [edit] Original Video Animations # Title Original release English airdate 1 "Chibi Party" A party riot is in view, where all of the characters from both the theatrical release and the series are turned into chibi forms. Envy's dragon form is actually a costume. After removing the costume, many characters confuse his androgynous form with that of a female. Hawkeye begins with the denouncement of Mustang. Two suits of armor go next and reveal they are Scar and Lust. Scar rips off his X-shaped scar and propels it across the room at Ed and Al, but misses and strikes Gluttony. Ed meets Heidrich, and Al changes his voice to Heidrich's to insult Edward. Ed and Al then deal with a drunk Winry. 2 "Kids" This brief sequence shows three children, who bear exact resemblances to the Elric brothers and to Winry Rockbell, making a trip through a modern city. They travel alone to Edward's apartment. Edward is by then aged and also referred to as a great-great-grandfather. In the end, a text scrolls along the bottom-center that reads, "In the year 2005, Edward Elric will be 100 years old. In this world, somewhere..." 3 "Liveaction" Alphonse Elric, in his armor form, embarks on a quest in a real-life Japan to find his brother Edward. His search eventually takes him to Studio Bones, where the series was produced, but due to his size he cannot fit through the door. 4 "Alchemists vs. Homunculi" In this interactive short, the viewer is introduced as a new member of the military, welcomed by Fuhrer Bradley who assigns the viewer to Mustang's group. Mustang instructs his troops on a plot to rescue the Elric Brothers from the Homunculi. In the underground city, Greed has captured Ed, Al and Winry, although Winry is revealed to Envy is disguise and he easily defeats Greed. Envy then lures the brothers into a trap set by the other Homunculi, namely Lust, Gluttony and Wrath. The fight leads to a ballroom where Mustang shows up, along with his troops, Major Armstrong, Kimblee, Archer, and Sloth. A large battle follows which ends when the viewer activates an alchemy ring recieved from Mustang, which blows up the building. Everyone survives, Ed and Al congratulating the viewer for their hardwork before departing themselves. 5 "Reflections" A recap of the series, with sections narrated by the Elric brothers, Roy Mustang, Maes Hughes, Greed and Envy.
