For those of you who dont know, May 25 is Alzhimers Awareness Day. This day, everyone is encoraged to wear purple, in honor of Sir Terry Prachett, an award winning author (who was knighted by the Queen of England in 2009) who has been diagnosed with a rare form of early onset alzheimers. For anyone who hasn't read The Wee Free Men or Nightwatch, you have no idea how hard it is to imagine such a great literary mind crumbling to preverbial dust. If you have, them you know how terrible it is. Alzhimers is a a degenerative and terminal disease for which there is currently no cure. Its horrifing to have to watch a loved one forget everything about you, and about themselves.
