With the first shadow beast, I attacked it with a mixture of Light and Earth.
The attack the other night... it took much more to kill them. They were resistant to the Elements and I had to find something else to use. I ended up going with Water and Light (Light seems to be a favorite of mine xd ). They also didn't burst into Light when I tried to rid the bodies; I had to use Aether. They were also smarter... their skin was harder to pierce. And they had an intimate knowledge of me and my family, as demonstrated by the sunflower the beast pulled out.

I am being watched. And tested. I can feel that much; my abilities are being tested by someone or something. They're trying me, trying to find a weakness. And I don't know what to do. Everyone is a potential enemy. I don't know how to stop whoever it is from scrying me since I don't know who it is, how they're doing it, or where they're doing it from. I have to show a wide range of different attacks now, and use as many different Elements as possible, all the while making sure that the battles are over quickly so that I can't be studied for any length of time.
And I can't show weakness of any kind. I was weak before; I can't be again. I have to focus, and keep my emotions under control, and I have to be careful. I don't know who I'm dealing with, but they're going through great lengths to design enemies that I have a harder time fighting. Like they're being designed for the express purpose of fighting me.
And winning.
