I don't believe that God is responcible for death. I believe that Satan is the one who brought about death to mankind with his deception of Eve, and in turn Adam followed her into the sin. Since we're all born from Adam and Eve we all inherited their imperfection; we grow old and die.
I have heard that Adam and Eve had eternal life in the garden of Eden. However, I was under the impression that the implication was that they also could not procreate.
Death is necessary for life; if nothing died, there would be no food, and the world would be overpopulated. If life comes from God, death must also. Besides, is not a joy to leave this world and join God in heaven?
It wasn't Satan who deceived Eve, it was a serpent. And to be frank, what he told her was the absolute truth. So he didn't so much deceive her as talk her into doing something YHWH didn't want her to do.

Scientist still say they don't know why we age.
They have a good idea. Basically your cells make copies of themselves over and over. Over time, mutations occur; some are spontaneous, some are caused by mutagens. I've heard it described thus: If you take a VHS tape, and make a copy, and then make a copy of that, and then make a copy of that... over and over and over, the quality of the image degrades over time. So you are correct when you say it's in the renewing process that things go wrong. Cell replication can be a bit hit-and-miss. The process isn't perfect.
And if the process isn't perfect, that indicates some problems in design, does it not?
