The room was dark except for the small glow that a candle gave the room. It smelled of cinnamon and vanilla. A small figure sat up and looked around, his dark hair was a mess and his olive eyes has black rings around them, obviously from insomnia. The boy pushed back the covers sleepily and stepped out of bed. His feet making a soft padding sound on the hardwood floor. He let out a content sigh. he loved the feeling of being in this old house. He loved the smell of the candle. He loved the dim light that the candle let off and most of all he loved the sound of his bare feet against the hardwood floor.
I could live here forever.. He thought smiling and taking a deep breath, the sweet scent of the room filling his nose.
He whipped his head around when he heard someone open his door.
"Why are you awake Master Kisho? are you uncomfortable?" a soothingly sweet voice said from the small amount that the door was open.
"Oh, I'm alright. I just forgot to blow my candle out. Thank you Fridolf." Kisho pushed the door open and gave Fridolf a slight bow and a polite smile. "You should sleep. I don't think I've ever seen you sleep."
Fridolf let out a pleasant chuckle. "I don't sleep Master Kisho. I don't need to."
Kisho arched one of his eyebrows in puzzlement. "What you you mean you don't have to sleep?"
"I mean just that. My body does not need sleep. And I am perfectly content tending to you and Master Goro. Now get in bed, Master Goro wants to have breakfast with you tomorrow. And if you need anything just let me know." He left the room, his dog-like feet making slight clicking noises as he walked down the hall.
Kisho blew out his candle and crawled back into bed. He snuggled into his covers contently and let out a soft sigh. He was asleep almost instantly.
