--My first attempt of writing a post apocoliptyc story. I don't like it but I thought I might as well post it. Tell me what you think/places I can approve. ************
The flashbacks of the nuclear attacks on my home town haunt me as I watch the little boy and his father limp down the street with a cart filled with very few supplies. The world is gone. Burnt away after our insecure governments finally broke down and started the war that destroyed our world. I’m one of the lucky ones. I survived. Though my whole family is dead, and nearly completely eaten and still rotting away in the basement, I refuse to give up. But, surviving in such a lonely, barren, and dangerous land is all but impossible.
I put the shredded remains of my jacket on and prepare to leave. I walk out the door and down the street to the deserted market and search for any food that hasn’t already been scavenged. I find nothing until I come across two un-touched onions. Right as I spotted it I leaped down and desperately shoved it in my mouth. It felt good to finally eat but the sensation wouldn’t last long.
I woke up that night at around three. I heard someone moaning and crying outside my house. I immediately stood up and grabbed the gun from under my bed. The crying had stopped until the shrill sound of breaking glass broke the peace. I knew then that this creature had got inside and was coming closer. I was frozen with horror. I told my legs to run but they wouldn’t budge. Finally, my legs allowed me to move. I ran as fast as I could out my bedroom door and down the long hall until SMACK! I hit something and felt a sharp pain run through me. I opened my eyes only to see a nearly dead human, covered in blood and puss. He showed all the signs of the black death, which had come around again before the war. By then, all I could feel was my muscles weakening and the blood running down me. I knew I was going to die. I slowly looked down with what little energy I had left dwindling inside me and see a long blade through my stomach and out my back. I could feel the blood filling my mouth and begin to drain out. My whole body was pulsing. I felt the blade slowly retract and my life slip away.
