Do you remember when,
The skies so bright and so clear
And so promising,
The days that have gone by
Without a second glance?
Do you remember when
Your first fall
Was your first
Piece of knowledge?
Do you remember the
Girl who ran around
Laughing, yet crying,
And screaming to get away
From cooties?
Do you remember when the days
Were short
But lovely nonetheless?
Do you remember being
Care-free and
Feeling the air go through your body
And embracing the heart?
The heart that was still together
That needed no stitching.
No regrets.
Do you remember…
When laughing was so easy
You needed to not be
Entertained for your smiles?
Do you remember the very few complications
And the smiles that came
When told not to?
Tell me,
Do you remember being the girl,
The boy,
The little child who
Simply only wanted to embrace life in a
New and intriguing way?
Tell me,
Do you remember when your first love
Was your only love?

Being happy and lovely?

Wasn’t broken and
Do you remember the girl
Behind the mask? Dancing in this lonely masquerade?
Do you remember
when you last looked back and said,
“Boy do I wish I was that little girl.
Do I wish I had fallen in love the first time
Like I’ve done before.”
But really…
Don’t you wish you remembered
The first memory ever created
In the human mind?
Do you remember when the masks were off
In this lonely masquerade?
