I should be working on math right now, but I can't make myself do it. I have no motivation for Statistics. Why do I need this class? I've heard this question one thousand times asked by students at whatever school I attended. Each time I heard someone ask this, I listed the reasons I needed the class in question. Take English, for example. "I don't need this class, I speak English!" Take it from me; if you're from Tennessee, chances are, you do not speak English very well. You have a lazy dialect which barely passes as a language. If you are trying to talk to someone from another country, it does not even pass as a language because you are not understood. So, if you are from my good ol' state, don't sleep in English class. "Well, what about Geography? Who needs it?" The answer is this: Look at Sarah Palin. "Well, okay. But I DO NOT need gym class, right?" Uh, most Americans need a stair master and a diet, so yeah. You need gym class.
But why do I need to take statistics? The first thing I "learned" in that class was how to read a bar graph. Which I believe I mastered in 3rd grade or so. Then I had to do mean, median, and mode. AGAIN. And what is up with all these long questions and stem and leaf plots(AGAIN)??? Why do I need the same material in LONG a**s WORD PROBLEM form???? (Yes, long a**s is a very sophisticated modifier.) I have tried to compile a list of the reasons Statistics is a class will benefit me later....and I just cannot do it. "Doesn't it stimulate the mind?" Yes, and so does a Rubix cube. Let me just take a bunch of Literature classes. That will make this southern girl more cultured. That's what will benefit me for the rest of my life.
If anyone can think of a good reason to take statistics, my inbox is waiting. Thank you for reading my rant.
