Try to translate the pain into a simplistic design
From the pen onto paper into words into rhyme.
I just want to sit down from time to time
And wonder where the hell the world draws the line.
'Cause my life isn't up for grabs, it's meant to be mine.
Not one more thing for heat-seeker missiles to find.
And it's suprising that countries have such a weak bind
To blow each other up and destroy our own kind.
And the families sit from their homes within,
Awaiting news from their fathers on how things been.
Praying for soldiers who've committed no sin
But die anyway no matter how pure their skin.
Time ceases to exist in so many ways,
Seems like weeks of war when it's only been days
While back home people fight for the rights of gays.
And if God was even watching, he'd think it's all strange.
Terrorists are worse than the common hater
Nuke someone's country first and try diplomacy later.
A little girl dies, who bothers to save her
As cars and homes and humans explode in the enemy's favor?
Diseased children all under quarantine
Girls trying to look like models in a magazine.
Die of starvation, die of intoxication
Die of gang activity within the nation.
Everyone says that war isn't cool
Yet they cheer on the fights going on at school.
Get your facts straight people, they're both the same.
People get hurt for reasons too wrong to name.
And now we have corporations on the decline
And superstars that are ready to rise
And bask in the wealth of fame and glory.
Will they bother to help? That will make a story.
I hate that our generation has to go through with this.
We don't deserve it, we never asked for it.
It's all we can do but to try for change
And pray that for the generations ahead things won't be the same.
Meanwhile I write my poetry, and I know I believe in it.
And I sure as hell hope that many will read and listen to it.
I'm sorry that the world is how it is, I am sad to say.
But we can all step forward and start saving it today.
