I was walkin' along the quad to go to lunch day before yesterday. And I looked at a seagull walking on the ground. And I watched as a girl walked in its direction. And the gull took off. And for a bit, I walked along. But I was thinking about that bird. What it must have been thinking, since the girl hadn't actually crossed where the bird had been, and hadn't intended to hurt it anyway.
"Well, I know that humans can't fly, but I can. So if I fly away, this human can't hurt me."
Ignoring the fact that the gull probably didn't think it out as well, and probably just reacted based on its instincts, it made me question.
"Who decided humans can't fly?"
"Why can't we walk on trees, if they're attached to the Earth?"
"Why on the ground at all? Would it really make such a difference if we hovered a few inches above it?"
And the more I thought this question, the more Gravity became a foreign concept to me. Like if you say a word too many times, eventually it becomes this odd sound that you're making, and really doesn't hold any meaning anymore.
