Playing Games
don't you miss the days
when running around in circles
meant you and all your friends
were only playing games
when pinch and poke
meant your only coke
instead of all you knew
don't you miss the torn up jeans
that covered up the bloody knees
don't you wish those jagged scars
could be fixed by simple bandaids
when touch and go
meant hide or seek
and not whether you would live
don't you miss the simple things
like playing dolls and dress up
where what to wear took priority
over when you had a check up
I miss those days
God, I miss those days
when everything was so much better
when walls weren't white
when food didn't taste so bad
when silence wasn't only broken
by the beeps and boops of nothing
when life wasn't quite so gray
when everything was child's play
God how I miss the days
when all we played with was
the tender innocence of yesterday.
