I haven't updated in a long time because a certain someone told me art would be done in a week. So I figure,d "Oh hey, I'll just hold up my entry for a week to show off the art witht he journal entry!" But the week has since gone and past and I have no finished artwork.
But I DO have the satisfaction of knowing the lineart has been inked and completed and that is being mailed to me. Coloring started and it should be done some time soon.
Hey, as long as it gets done, I am not going to complain! Not
that much, anyway. xD
I do have some art to show you though. He did give me 2 wips (Since he was still indecisive about the pose when he made these).
This is the rejected pose, and this is the pose I'm getting (keep in mind this is very old) :
Another art I commissioned... Oh god, I don't know, beginning of this month I suppose, was for a halloween profile I want to make from color=emo.
Emo has been going through a lot of stuff lately and has been either.. not wanting to draw Q any more or hating me. Dx
Anyway, I wanted a seasonal profile for halloween. I've never done a seasonal profile before and thought it would be cool. The profile would be based around the music Tryad - Dance of the Urbanite (track 4
here. I discovered them from
Jamendo, though. Amazing site.).
I have an EXTREMELY EARLY wip from emo
here. It features Q and Ven (Ven's face is conveniently covered; emo has a hard time drawing Ven lol). And it looked awesome so far but s**t happened and now Emo won't even answer my PMs so I don't know if this will be done in time for me to make a profile out of it. ;-;
Two days a go, I went through the requests & commissions forum looking for shops (Keep in mind the last 3 times I did this I got ripped off) and I found a lot I liked, and bribed a few. And now I hope I can get some good art but they two, after the first 2 PMs decided to play coy with me.
Do I have a bad art reputation? Do artists hate me now? What did I do?!
I Hope they're just honestly busy and I'm just being paranoid.
gonk But now let's get off art. Let's get to my surgery stuff. I'm sure you ALL ARE SOOO INTERESTED
rolleyes xd Basically I went to the doc about a week and a half a go and he said "In two weeks" I can get my rubberbands off. So I was all excited about being able to eat real food in time for halloween when it came to my attentiont hat the next appointment isn't until november 3rd.
Now I'm no expert at math but that seems like more than two weeks.
crying Either way, I will be able to chew that day. I shall dub that day "Q will never stop eating day". YAAAY.
Assuming something doesn't go wrong during the time my rubberbands are off, another two weeks after that my archbars will come off. Now, doc said that the swelling and numbness would still persist for months, so I don't know if I'll be able to talk coherently when everything is off (I'm hoping I will, because this is getting annoying). I really miss skyping. Hopefully when my rubberbands get off I can talk at least a bit more coherently than I can now, and do more voice chats, without it hurting so much. I managed one voice chat and they said "You sound extremely drunk." That and any f, b, or p sounds just go into nothingness so you better hope I don't use any words that have those letters in them. D:
ANYWAY, nothing crazy new happened really, except last night at midnight I went upstairs to get a drink, put the syringe in the mug to take my first drink, when I hear a very loud POP and my hand flies out of the mug with half of the syringe still in it.
"DAMNIT!" I whine, there goes another syringe.
I managed to drink that small bit out of the mug like a normal person, but it was with great difficulty, lots of air, and I was extremely noisy. Though at this point I shouldn't be surprised since noisy eating/drinking has pretty much been a staple of this stupid surgery. I find breathing and stopping drinking to be the hardest parts of drinking.
Aside from this, I bought a toaster that poaches eggs. For $30 at Target. Dude. I am SO making my own egg ******** mcmuffin sandwich when this is all over, in my own toaster. No longer will "And it makes toast too!" be the defining technological advancement of needlessness.
It is now "AND IT POACHES EGGS WITH MY TOAST" WIN.
This is what I bought on clearance at Target. Can't wait to use it~
OKAY SO NOW FOR THE WEREWOLF.
This will be the lengthiest part of the journal entry. It is also mostly copy-pasted since I kind of kept a journal in a hidden guild of mine.
Basically, how it all got started is that I bought this realistic werewolf costume on clearance for $30 (original price 60) :
Except the costume is way too big for me and I can't wear anything rubber because It makes me gag. So I bought this 90% sure I was never going to wear it, but I like werwolves so I wanted it anyway. xD When it came, it was definately not what the picture had led me to believe, but whatever, I still liked it I guess. Had to warm up to it, I suppose.
I decided that I'd make a wire frame mannequin type thing and make it a halloween decoration for the yard, to have THE SCARIEST HALLOWEEN HOUSE ON THE STREET BWAHAHA~~~
Here's the big journal of that.
I'm an idiot. Every time I say "70" I mean "120". Keep that in mind.Sun Oct 19, 2008 7:49 pmSo I made a thread a while back about how I had gone to get wire for a skeleton to put my werewolf costume on. Or at least I thought I did. I can't find it now. SO HERE'S A NEW THREAD LOL.
The the thing is about 70% done, I think.
It's made of wire and chicken fencing(?) with PVC Pipe as the base.
Basically what happened was I at first was making the uh... muscles you could say, out of wire, then I ran out of wire and moved to the chicken fence. Which was way more stiff and I should've used it from the beginning.
After that, the thing could stand on it's own but it was easy to knock over. Like way too easy. So I wove pipe through it, and then made the arms with pipe as well, since I hadn't made arms yet at that point.
This is what I've so far (I might take a pic without the costume to show you how messy it is later lol xD
Link to large imageIt's leaning against something here since it's night and I had to take the thing inside (putting in th epipe moved the center of gravity somehow D; ), but it's meant as a halloween lawn ornament. I put stakes in the ground then put the pipes int he legs over the stakes, and it stands by itself, and it's much harder to knock over.
So now all I have to do is make "muscles" for the arms so they don't look so flat, attach the hands (I need to buy more wire, 'cause I need to pose them.
gonk ), and put the pants on.
Amazing idea? y/n?
3nodding Mon Oct 20, 2008 8:51 pmWell today I did very small things.
I put wire in the hands, except I ran out of wire (never did buy more) and had to make due since I only needed a tiny bit. So the hands aren't as "arr" as I'd like them to be, but it's better than them being flat I suppose. I then packed them with newspaper and duct taped them to the inside of... black construction paper.
xd Which was then duct taped to the PVC pipe for shape.
In the picture he still looks kind of flat, but I realize now that's because I made his shoulders too broad. And on our right side, his chest overlaps his arm a bit, so I couldn't really shape some parts of that arm.
The pose is pretty eh right now. Looked better yesterday. Originally I was supposed to have 70 degree connections for the elbows but because of an unforeseen circumstance I had to use the 70s for the right leg, instead of 90s.
So the 90s went to the arms and I have to make due now. I suppose in the dark... It won't really matter.
xd I also took black construction paper and placed it in every hole in the mask. Because I packed the mask with newspaper, previously you could see the white s**t sticking out. This rids of that problem, was an easy fix, and now it looks more realistic (even if it's a subtle change).
Was going to put the pants on him today but got sidetracked! No pants I have will fit so we went out to buy denim to just put around his legs. But when we went out to go do that, it turned into a whole day affair because I realized We had no scary halloween decorations! D:
All of them were funny/corny and not scary, which obviously doesn't go with our werewolf. So we bought all new decorations. Basically we're going witht he classic graveyard theme. Bought some really nice gravestones, a fog machine, some strobe lights. I have a gel sampler somewhere in my room and I figured I could do cheap lighting with those and flashlights mounted on rocks or something. xD
I did end up buying one cheesy thing though. But it's a cool cheesy thing! D<
It's this gravestone that has a censor, so when you pass it, it lights up, drips blood, and then says something like "You will be dead soon" or "I have a coffin for you!" (In more words and kind of interesting sounding, it's a whole little monologue thing, but it's still corny xD).
By the time we got home from shopping, it was already dark so I couldn't make any more progress on the werewolf or the outside decorations.
But tomorrow I'm going to set everything up and of course make sure everything works at night, so tomorrow (Unless something randomly bad happens with the pants) I should have pictures of what my lawn will look like on halloween!
surprised edit: Oh, also, no way to make glowing eyes as the eyes in the mask are already, um, set. But hopefully exterior lighting will make it really gruesome looking~
Link to large imageThis is under the shirt. The back is all that chicken fence stuff, with chicken wire weaving up the "spine", which is the heavier green wire (Which is called c17 or something. I dunno).
The front part of the chest is only the green wire. There wasn't enough fence to do the front, and really the back needs to be more sturdy anyway, and needs to be used as a weight balance too (At least I thought so).
Also wanted to make a note that this thing isn't held together with duct tape.
xd All the wires are tied together pretty securely (I'd hope), the duct tape is just in case it gets loose or something. Except in the case of the fencing, where the duct tape is over any edge that is cut because I didn't want it to cut up my fingers or the costume going over it.
Only thing held together with duct tape really is the arms, and that's kind of sad because it's duct tape and paper, but I already started having weight issues with the frame leaning too far forward so I was trying to make that as light as possible.
I need some type of weight ballance in the hip area, because that's the joint that's edging forward. I thoguht about making him have a tail... But when we went to all the different stores today we couldn't find the same color fur. I have a tail but it woudln't match at all and definately wouldn't do much in terms of weight balance...
I think I could superglue the T connection in the middle of the hip to stop my problem, but then it wouldn't be as poseable... Which is part of the fun of this. xD
Tue Oct 21, 2008 9:48 pmI have no idea why the pictures came out blurry, since my mom was using her FANCEE Rebel XTi (Why buy a camera like that if you're just going to use the auto features?
stare ) but anyways here we go.
LIGHTING MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE LOL
Full pic red spotlight
full pic less red.
Okay so today I went out and decorated the yard, which... Once I finished I realized how lame and empty our yard looks lol.
I'll take a pic of the entire thing I suppose... Not right now.
I need more gravestones really, but they're too expensive.
gonk I have styrofoam and spray paint, so I could make more gravestones myself, but they wouldn't look as good as what we already have so I'm kinda... eh... Plus I'm lazy. xP
Anyway, today I did some more small changes.
Gave the wolfhead a neck made out of that sewer pipe connection adapter thing that connects to your gutter, and repacked his head. Now his head stands straight and I can get him to look any direction in the same way every time, instead of fighting with the random acts of newspaper inside of his head.
Went back to home depot and picked up a new 70 connection so his shoulder isn't so straight up. It looks way better now but the pictures don't do it much justice. Regardless it doesn't matter because if the pose looks too stupid I can always readjust the night of.
Bought a fog machine but there isn't much fog in these pics because the ones with great fog came out way too blurry. Even so, it's JUST WINDY enough to completely negate the whole purpose of a fog machine, so I was thinking of grabbing some dry ice to have "rolling fog" along the gravestones.
Have a strobe light that was originally intended for the werewolf, but the light is too dim so I pointed it at the gravestone instead 'cause I wanted to still use it.
Could never find my gel sampler, couldn't find any gels to buy anywhere, so I took some plastic packaging and colored it red with sharpie, and taped it over the lights. Works just the same lol.
I already cut out larger pieces for the lights on either side of our door, but I haven't put them out yet.
Originally, I was using flashlights to light stuff but them my mom told me she had a spot light. WAY TO GO TELLING ME TOO LATE MOM.
So the one with less red is the flashlight (which got knocked over 'cause originally it was facing the wolfman's head) and the red spotlight is the one with the um... red spotlight.
OH YES AND WE FINALLY PUT PANTS ON HIM XD
He has no feet, but that was sort of planned from the beginning anyway. If we don't get the dry ice to put at his feet (where do you buy dry ice anyway?? D: ) I will have to think of something to put at his feet to cover up the fog machine being between his legs. And the spot light. Which is white. With a white cord. gfsdkgfh
Now all that's left to do (aside from find dry ice for the big day) is to find some werewolfy type sounds/soundtrack from the internet and burn a CD on them and then hide it somewhere outside.
Anyone know of some realistic beastly/woods type sounds?
Everything I've managed to find so far has been way too corny. I've been fighting so hard for a realistic scene, I don't want my soundtrack to completely ruin it.
Also need to do something about the shoulder on the right. It's way too edgy. Haven't quite figured out how to solve it yet. Was thinking I might be able to cheat it somehow and just rearrange the shirt and paperclip it in some way...
---
Okay I made a loop
http://media.putfile.com/Scary-Atmosphere-loopIt's not that great but it's better than anything I could find. xP
It's a collection of some random stuff off soundboard.com, but the major background music thingy that loops every 30 seconds or so is the intro to whatever track 30 is on the Shadow Hearts OST (disc 1).
xd --------
It's not 100% done but it's like... 99.98%
This is the first time I've ever done something like this before and I actually liked it a lot, so maybe I'll do it again next year. I have a
realistic godzilla mask I could form a decoration out of, it I bought some extra parts...
xd
