Going green is really cliché right now. Dont get me wrong I am all baout the preservation of our world, but dont make it into a fashion statement. Way before it became the new "dont-eat-anything" in the lifestyles section I had been called a tree-hugger and a naturaulist. Now those same words (well maybe not naturaulist) are the new "that's hot". Anyways here are some tips on being enivromentaly friendly.
~Wait until you have a full load before using your washing machine ~Recycle wherever possible ~Put a plug in the basin and sink, leaving hot water taps running is wasteful ~Use the shower rather than the bath - you’ll use an average 80 litres less water (make it shorter girls) ~Use environmentally friendly cleaning products ~Remember to turn-off lights when you leave the room ~Use low energy light bulbs. They last up to 15 times longer and can reduce lighting costs over the lifetime of the bulb ~Switch off your TV, video, DVD player, computer and stereo when not in use. They still use power on standby mode ~Turn off the tap when brushing teeth or shaving (or any other faucet-related activities) ~Use biodegradable cat litter(it can be flushed!) ~Plug in a laptop, not a desktop ~Reuse everything (as long as it is not hazardous) ~When you’re out, carry a water bottle with you ~Don’t idle ~Donate old cell phones ~Avoid styrofoam, its not biodegradable and bleached coffee filters, it contaminates groundwater and air ~Although tropical hardwood (teak and mahogany) are beautiful and long-lasting increasing demands for these is decreasing our forests so avoid these as well These I have all gotten off various websites about enviromentaly friendly tips. I realize not everyone follows them, but its always nice to know. If I find any more I will be sure to post them
