Alas, horror films are certainly not what they used to be. Too predictable and far too insistently indirect for my taste. It pains me when a scriptwriter is obviously making up the story as they go along, as opposed to focusing their time and energy on disguising a back story that is cleverly revealed throughout the film. Sure the gore and guts are always pleasant, but where is the passion and the true, thrilling suspense of an actual plot? Nowadays, its much easier to attend the theater and treat horror films as you would comedies. I am distraught to say that I laughed through every horror piece that Sarah Michelle Gellar has ever appeared in. Not only are they poorly thought out, but the writers attempt to weave in an aspect of mystery that fails to contribute true value to the plot and goes ultimately unacknowledged by the end, causing one to wonder exactly what the point of it all was. *sigh* Ah, well. It's just a thought.
