why is it that we do these things?
like hating so many for petty reasons?
like hurting so many for no real reason?
Is that how we humans really are?

Are we really just hateful creatures that must put others in misery to forget our own?
Have we not learned from what we have done to others?
Have we not learned from what happened to ourselves?

Why do we care so little about the planet?
Why must we kill off animals and their habitats for our own gain?
I thought we changed to avoid more extinctions.
I thought we have become more enviromentally aware.

But was I wrong?
Are we too selfish to care about other creatures and change our ways?
Is it too late now to stop and repair the damage we have caused?
I wish I knew the answers for all of these,
but I am just one man and can not answer them.

I hope that we can change.
I hope that we will change.
I wait for that day,
when we do change,
for the better.
