Well, I have two things I want to talk about:
1. I just got done watching the stupidest (well, almost) movie ever-- Don't Bother to Knock starring Marilyn Monroe. What bothers me is not only the film (which is pretty bad) but Marilyn herself. I mean, okay, so she was pretty or whatever (shrugs) but come on; she was also so FAKE. The breathless manner of talking. The vacant look in her eyes like she's got nothing in that head but sawdust. The ridiculous mixture of come-hither yet demure, innocent yet sensuous. (Rolls eyes.) It's all so blatantly just an act and it drives me up the wall when other women do things so they can appear more "sensitive" or "feminine" and therefore more "desirable." Why the hell can't they just act like themselves and stop pretending already? Bleh. xp
And don't even get me started on the corsets she --obviously-- never wore. stare I hardly consider myself a feminist but what comes to mind is "WTF." I really hate some of the other members of my gender sometimes and can't help but wonder what men see in them. But whatever. I'm just ranting here.
NOTE: I'm not criticizing her personally, mind you; just the persona she projected on-screen. From what people say about her she sounded like a wonderful individual who was horribly misused by Hollywood and the Kennedy's, and I don't think she was ever really given a chance to shine. cry
Marilyn in all her glory, fake or not.
2. On a more cheerful note, I made a tektek of what I (more or less) look like in real life:
The hair should actually be wavy, a tiny bit darker and maybe a shade more reddish. But, it was the closest I could find (that didn't look ugly) and I also included some of my hobbies/interests/talents/etc. while I was at it.
I guess I'm done for now. Cheers! biggrin
