Perfectly balanced, I ride along,
Singing the same ol' cowboy song.
The curving lines, the sweeping wind,
The pounding hooves, no need to pretend.
Neck so slender, legs so long,
Now I feel I really belong.
A yell behind me, I know not where;
Nor infact, do I care.
Away, away, away I go.
Beautifully balanced from head to toe.
Faster and faster and on and on...
Through vallys and rivers, to mountains beyond.
On into sunsets, on into dreams,
On into love with the greatest of ease.
On and on we go all day,
For these are so long, so full in May.
Time to smell roses we shall not take,
For we leave many towns alone, in our wake.
Finally, in the last breath of day,
We head on home, he knows the way.
Back in the stables, he holds his head high,
With big brown eyes he reaches the sky.
Lines fit together, so beautiful, so strong,
So delicate, so decedent, so graceful and long.
I glance back at him, stabled for tonight,
And think of tomorrow's reckless renegade flight....
Sorry, that's a poem I wrote on the cusp of spring and summer that has just seemed more and more so ever since mid august... So I figured I'd share.
