Lamentations of a poet
Poetry, whether it's disturbing, freeform, or just plain there.
After seeing a video I decided to write a small passage...
Centered around a song, really.

The storm is coming but I don't mind.
People are dying, I close my blinds.

She felt the push before she could scream to stop; she wasn't sure who it was that had done it but someone had just shoved her off the bridge in the flurries of motion after what had happened there. She knew /he/ was there, the love of her life, but had to find him, and before she had a chance to she was shoved towards the water and was now falling.
Falling? Really?

She hit the water with what seemed to her body to be a BANG and the gelatin-like fluid closed in a sudden sinkhole around her again. Her hands groped for something to hold onto but they failed; her holds were nonexistant. Somehow, though, she broke through the surface.

All that i know is I'm breathing now.

She gasped for breath, screaming for help, as on the bridge above a small child pulled at his coat as he was asking around for her. He bent down in worry, asking her if HE knew, if he knew anything at all. The small boy turned around and pointed to the water with this grave look in his eyes, and the other paused, watching out there for a moment before he realized what the child was saying. He soon ran for the edge of the bridge, looking down into the murky depths frantically as he saw her fingertips fall, the last bit of of her body under the surface.

I want to change the world...instead I sleep.
I want to believe in more than you and me.

He screamed something unintelligible; was it 'no'? Was it her name? Noone could be sure. But soon he dove in after her, much more gracefully than she had fallen in, body sliding into the water with a splash of its own.

But all that I know is I'm breathing.
All i can do is keep breathing.
All we can do is keep breathing now.

She was sinking quickly under the water; her muscles were starting to falter now and she was fighting valiantly though it was a losing battle. She couldn't cry; there was too much water around her to do so, and she couldn't scream for if she did she would surely inhale water and die much quicker. But was there any point in fighting now, now that she was so far under, the surface seemed so far away...
Soon her solace came, though, she could feel fingertips brushing against hers as her eyes stayed squeezed shut. That grip on her hands, she could feel it and recognize it from anywhere, she tried to cry out his name, forgetting long enough that she was under water to inhale a load of water and black out the rest of the way.

All that I know is I'm breathing.
All I can do is keep breathing.
All we can do is keep breathing now.

Now he pulled her close, tightly into his embrace as he swam valiantly for the surface which luckily wasn't more than twenty feet away. He could feel her dead weight in his arms, even if they were floating, had she died, was he too late?

All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing

His body soon broke the surface with her pale, cold body as well. He gasped for breath, not even pausing to mop hair out of his eyes, only swimming for the closest steps he could find to get back up to the bridge. There were no steps, only a ladder, but he didn't care. He wrapped an arm tightly around her waist and climbed up with his other free hand and his feet to get them back to solid ground.

All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing.

He tried so hard to save her, even if his muscles ached and burned he still tried, it was the hardest he had ever tried at anything. His lips met hers in a desperate kiss of sorts, though he was administering mouth to mouth. Her lips were so cold...her skin was so pale...
CPR.
Mouth-to-mouth.
CPR.
Mouth-to-mouth.

He tried this for almost twenty minutes, knowing she wouldn't come back after the first couple but trying anyway. He felt like he failed her, though, as he broke down and cried into her soaking wet, newly dead corpse. His sopping wet body was shivering, clutching onto her, that last connection that he had to reality.
And now that was gone too.

All we can do is keep breathing now.
