Despite being a Ceremony that involves allowing the sacrifice to drown, this Raft turned out to be quite seaworthy, it rolled over large waves and through violent drop offs with the greatest of ease. Though I don't believe it was what one would call it a very comfortable or smooth ride, but I can say for sure that I wasn't in much danger of falling overboard, leash or no leash. For the most part the worst was the thirst, hunger and boredom. I couldn't do much to ease any of the three. Oh after a while I'd be able to drink seawater, being dehydrated of both water and salt, but that'd be a few days away anyway. I vaguely wondered if I should pray to survive, but never did, I was never taught how to properly pray by my father, I wasn't old enough yet.
I also knew nothing of sailing, at least this kind of high sea sailing, so there was very little in the situation that was in my control. I believe I was out at sea for around 2 days, or at least one night, but since I slept so erratically I'm not sure just HOW long I was out there surviving largely on seawater and faith. It all sort of bled into one long moment of boredom, silence, various attempts at killing seagulls and most of all waiting.
By the way the trick of it is to pretend to fall asleep and not move at all, letting the less patient seagulls swoop down, wait until they peck at you and pounce on them.
It was fulfilling, but not really helpful seeing as I couldn't properly cook it. So I just dipped the dead body in the ocean and put it at the opposite side of the raft, deciding that if nothing else it'd make a worthwhile trophy.
The end of my voyage came to a very sudden stop, when I noticed land, well a piece of land, It appeared to be some kind of Sandbar with a Wooden bridge, I yowled as the boat sailed into the little Tide pool in Port of Gambino, not exactly a busy place at this point. There was some old man covered in the most bizzarre clothing and carrying something that looked a little (now that I think of it very little) like the rods used by some sailors to taunt large prey into being captured.
He was using it wrong too, seemingly to catch the live bait, namely the small fish we caught with our hands.
"Nyraowl?" I said looking at his strange body, There are felisians without tails, sometimes they can get cut off during war or bitten off by large fish, so this man not having one wasn't unusual but he didn't have any ears either, by the standards of a Felisian that had never seen the Mainland he was very strange looking man.
"Ehh? Who're you girl?" He said looking up at me.
<"What did you just say"> I asked, in Felisian.
"I cannae understand a word yer saying bub." he said annoyed at me.
<"Why are you talking in Gibberish?"> I asked nervously. The tide began to sink, the old man sighed and walked out of the water he had been previously standing waist deep in, revealing another marvel of his strange Rubbery Suspenders.
<"HEY don't Leave me behind!"> I said running after him but held fast by the leash, still quite attached to the mast.
"Ehh?"
I yowled and whimpered pitiously at him chewing on my restraint. He came toward me, flicking out an object that I had never seen before in my life, It was almost like water, only not so see-through, not only that but when I tried to take a closer look at it, I swore I saw my own face.
It also appeared to be sharp as it's toothed edge cut through the leash in a few swipes.
"Mrrowwll?" I said still trying to examine it.
"Ehh now, no touching the knife."
"Nyao?" I asked tilting my head at him.
"Eyyy, ya better get goin' little girl, it's getting dark, yer parents are probibly worryin." He said walking away. I didn't follow that strange creature, curious about him and that strange object as I was, I just scampered off towards the woods.
I found a Tree full of large red and yellow fruit, climbed up it and ate most of them off of that, spitting out the ones filled with worms. (Which I sadly bit into on a few occasions) they were slightly sour and bitter, but oddly sweet.
I think at that point it hit me that I was in a foreign land. That I didn't die on the raft and got sent to some very bizarre afterlife, after all if that were the case, why did I need to eat?
I leaned up against the trunk and started crying, I missed Dad, and Uncle Mako, it was dark by the time I was finished crying, and I heard something sneaking around the bushes under the tree. At this point I was well rested, emotionally irrational and annoyed at being woken up. I bent my knees and leapt out of the tree, pouncing at the intruder sneaking about the place.
