History of Dasj
Dasj was once a beautiful country, flourishing in life and magic. The dominant race that resided there were the Sprites. The Sprites and Faeries lived in peace there and built many cities across the land. They excelled abundantly in the ways of Magic and physics and philosophy. Some legends told say that the ancient Faeries of Dasj invented the concept of numbers and the ways of mathematics, as not one knows how long the Faeries have lived, but that it was longer than anything else except the lands. The Faeries' and Sprites' knowledge became so ever-increasing that they began to wonder where they had come from, as they had forgotten how long they'd been on the planet they are, and that's what is said to have begun the beliefs of their Gods. Soon after the Gods have revealed themselves to the Faeries -about 2 millennia after- the Faeries had drifted further away from the sciences and focused more on their religion. (I don't have time to write a bible right now... but I will later maybe.) They couldn't travel very far across the ocean only by wings or even with the use of magic. So, to suit their aspirations to learn, with their technological advancements in science and magic, they'd created ships that could take them to other lands around their world and the Faeries used these inventions voluptuously. They had discovered many lands and many new species, some of whom they could communicate with. They eventually came to meet the Humans of Marqia and Lillian. The Faeries and Sprites were disgusted with the Humans and their ill nature of contention and love of warfare that many of them decided to shun the Humans, but some of the Faeries had seen the Humans differently and welcomed them, even though they were barbaric. Soon enough, the location of the Faeries' homeland of Dasj was spread to the Humans and they already had the ability to travel the seas with an invention called the Boat, so they ventured to the land of Dasj and consumed it. Many of the Faerie creatures fled the island in fear of the Humans, and some left in rage of them. Some Faeries were killed by evil Humans and some by the Human's crooked ways of harnessing nature to do their bidding. Many, many trees were destroyed by the Humans, even though the Faeries had offered for them to reside with themselves in the trees, but the Humans thought this unnatural and strange and despite the Sprites' protest, they were murdered. Terror spread throughout Dasj as the Humans settled every bit of land they saw and uprooted countless Faerie villages. It was the worst two years of the Faeries and Sprites' days; never had there been such chaos and misunderstanding in the land of Dasj; it was a horrible holocaust for them. For the Humans, they settled Dasj in triumph, but many dead, as the Faeries had cast many a great and effective spells and enchantments upon them while they were fighting. Some of the spells were sneaky like poisons or viruses or diseases that would only be epidemic amongst the Humans. Most of the Faeries who survived fled their homeland to the far North to an island called Nekcreah (neck-raw) and lived in peace there and there still they live today. Today, in the now Human-inhabited Dasj, the Humans are oblivious to the events of the holocaust which devastated the Faerie economy only about a millennia back. They claim to have forgiven themselves and forgotten their heinous acts of then. But the Faeries have also forgiven the Humans, for it is the Faeries’ way, though even some survivors are still living today, but the Humans who had taken action in the holocaust are a good fifty or so generations deceased and none of the Humans seem to have been educated of the horrors of the Dasj settling. The Faeries took it upon themselves to teach the Humans of their ancestors’ own atrocity and of the bygone days when Dasj was rich in splendor. They taught the Humans many of their customs and most of the Humans honored and appreciated them. As of currently, the Faeries and the Humans and the Dwarves and the Qarians all live in somewhat harmony. Magic is once again a well known splendor throughout the lands.
Dasj's Geography
The island of Dasj is located across the Hsuluth Ocean, to the South-East of the land of Marqia. Dasj is roughly the size of Great Britain on Earth, but is shaped more like the country, Japan. A river, the Ri gin ha Viiv, begins at the Northernmost tip of the island and flows South through the valleys and past the mountain ranges to the Southernmost valley of Elland, where a great lake is formed that is called Lake El. There are five different mountain ranges in Dasj, and, at the highest peak of each one, there are Holy Ziggurats and Altars built in dedication of the Deities of the ancient Faeries where they would venture to to worship and perform rituals in honor of their Gods' being. To this day, the Temples upon the mountain-peeks are in ruins due to centuries of withering and abandonment.
Theology of the Ancient Faeries of Dasj
The Faeries of old Dasj believed in an ensemble of the five great Deities:
El - Goddess of the Heavens, Wind, Frost and Love. Sometimes takes the form of a Giant Eagle or a Gryphon.
Lilli - Goddess of the Flame, Tension and Emotions. Sometimes takes the form of a Murder of Crows or a Phoenix.
Har - God of the Terrain, Volcanoes and Plants. Sometimes takes the form of a Forest Elk or a Giant Insect-usually a stick bug or a cricket or a beetle.
Nowd - God of the Waters, Air and Lightning. Sometimes takes the form of a Whale or a Giant Plesiosaur.
Dasj - the Deity of Life, the Animals, Destruction and Creation. Sometimes takes the form of a Gigantic Archangel of Darkness or an Archdemon of Light.
-Even though the Holy Ziggurats and Altars have fallen, the faith of every Faerie and Sprite still lives. Today, organizations have been formed to help restore the Altars to their former, once bounteous state of beauty and recognition worldwide.
