A series of letters?
This is where I write stuff.
DAY ONE - You Have No Idea How Boring This Is
-Please note that all entries are written from my memories and not copied out of a journal. Me journal really sucks. You don't want to know.-

So, I woke up at 2. Actually, I doubt I actually got any sleep at all. This was bad, because I didn't sleep for about 24 hours after that.

And we went to the airport. Orlando International Airport. And we did all the things associated with flying. Checked in, got our passports, got our boarding passes. Went through security, which didn't take long (about 30 minutes, my mind says). Got on the plane. Flew for two hours. Then we arrived at Dulles.

Dulles Airport is somewhere outside of Washington DC. I didn't see DC at all. We had about a 2-hour layover, during which I had lunch, bought a book for the next flight, and then sat and read it.

And the flight.

Was fourteen hours.

If you couldn't guess, I was very, very bored.

I think I finished the book twice. It was a 700-page book. I didn't read straight through the flight. Most of the time, I was trying to sleep (unsuccessfully for the most part). We ate two meals, both of which I would most certainly not eat under any other conditions. We landed in Narita at 14:00.*

And I didn't believe I was in Tokyo. Not at all. Even though the ads were (mostly) Japanese. It took a bit.

So we went through Immigration. Then we met Maiko, who was our delegation manager. In layman's terms this translates to a combination tour guide and translator with a lot of awesome sprinkled in. You'll see why later.

So we got to the hotel after a two hours' drive from Narita. We walked to a restaurant near Shinagawa Station, who served us a combination of Western food and Japanese food. I fell asleep during the meal (remember, I didn't sleep on the flight at all), but only for a few minutes after I had already finished.

Then we went back to the hotel, which was on a hill. We walked up this hill three times in the three days we stayed in Tokyo, and let me tell you that was one awful hill. I don't even remember falling asleep that day, I was so tired.

*Japan uses something like military time. It's much more convenient for me than using PM and AM.
