Dante lived a lonely life, ever since his mother died he basically was left to fend for himself. It was because of this Dante never knew what compassion, joy and love really ment, it was like forbidden fruit to him. Dante cared for himself, he loved himself and no one else. He had no feelings, whatever feelings he 'did' have were taken away by the reaper when he was given his curse.
Dante walked through a village, it seemed pretty normal. Farmers plowing thier feilds, children running around, women gossiping, ~the usual..~thought Dante. He walked through the village until he reached a hotel, he bought himself a room and unpacked afew of his things in it. He left the room carrying a pouch of gold, his Lust Sword, few throwing knives and key. He walked to the market area and browsed through a nice selection of swords, one caught his attention. A blade of black onyx, ruby hilt, with silver wiring.
"... I'll take this one.. How much?" Dante asked. The clerk seemed surprised, "I'm very curious as to why you choose this. It has a grim past, all its previous owners have had gruesome ends while this sword was in thier possesion," he answered.
Dante answered, "I'm not sure, but it just calls to me..." The clerk raised his brow, "very well then.. take it, young one. I cant bear its burden any longer.." was all he said before shooing Dante out of the store. Dante put it in it's sheath and fitted it along side Lust. As it had a 'grim' past he decided to name it Despair. He went back to his room and sat on his bed, he drew Despair and examined the blade closely. In ancient language it read, "A fate worse then death, a power greater then that of gods', unlock thy true potential with me, i shall serve you well... Just proove to me you are worthy." As he finished the sentence, the ruby glew intensely, the silver wiring un-did it self and wrapped its self tightly around Dante's right arm, cutting into his flesh sharply. A voice echoed through the room, "release your self or die..!" it said. Dante frantically pulled at the wires but every time her did they just tightened thier grip and cut deeper and faster. Dante was thining now, ~silver.. is metal... metal.. fire.. no metal.. thats it!~ dante focused on the wires, this was extremley hard to do cuz they were constantly moving. He spoke in ancient language and suddenly his left hands burst into flames, with his index finger Dante tried to melt each wire, they hardend and stopped tightening. He ran to the the nearest well, and got a bucket of water, poured it over the wires and they shattered. His wounds healed almost immediatly, the intense pain, however, did not subside. There were scars all across his arm now and they burned ferociously. The voice bellowed again, "Well done young one, you have passed the test. Let those scars be proof that you are worthy of 'Despair's' power."
Dante, happy with his new sword, decided to catch up on some sleep as he hadn't had any for the past 3 days. He went to his room and dropped into his bed and fell asleep immediatley.
It was around 2 in the morning, Dante heard footsteps they were approaching his room really fast, they were followed by footsteps of a larger crowd. This one wasn't as quiet they were yelling and screaming after the person they were chasing, "Where'd the ******** she run off to?" one asked another.
"I saw her run this way!" answered another, this was followed by more footsteps. Dante sat up in his bed, he rubbeed his eyes. He went and opened his door a little to see what all the commotion was about, big mistake. As soon as he did a girl rushed into his room and closed the door behind her, "Please I'll explain later.. Just help me! Please, sir!" she begged. Dante stood there confused, "ummm..... ok?" he answered, he then walked over to his bed and took out his red coat. He put it on and attached the 2 swords to his belt.
"Here..." he said, tossing a knife to the girl, "use it if your in danger...else leave it to me.." He drew Despair, the black onyx blade reflected the moonlight. He opened the window and threw his pack down. He then jumped out the window and landed safetly on the ground, he thrust Despair into the ground and extended his arms out to the girl who stood by the window. She reluctantly did as Dante did, he caught her in his arms and set her down. He took Despair out of the ground and started walking to the exit of the village, "Wait..." dante stopped and turned around, "I'm Ashe, i have no where to go.. Please help me one last time?" She asked. In most circumstances Dante would've turned his back to anyone in need but here it was different, he couldn't turn around something inside of him wouldn't let him.
He nodded weakly and continued walking, Ashe ran up beside him, "So.. May I know the name of my savior?" She asked. Dante kept on walking taking his sweet time to answer the question, ".... Dante." he finally answered. Ashe smiled and walked alongside him. dante looked over to her, "...why were the chasing you?" he asked. She stopped dead in her tracks, Ashe looked to the ground, "can we please not talk about that...?" She said. Dante nodded in response and kept walking.
