Week Forty-Six: I was busy helping get the Nancy Drew sponsorships ready for release
Week Forty-Seven: I spent half the week being sick with a viral infection *cough* *cough* and the rest of it getting ready for Fanime.
Week Forty-Eight: Well, I'm here, ain't I?
So now I get to play catch-up smile
Fanime
I joined last year on July 5th -- and I had the opportunity to go to Anime Expo and Otakon, which I declined since I was so new to the company and didn't really feel like flying out.
So this past weekend I had the opportunity to go to my very first Anime convention as a Gaia staffer - and it was nuts. I had soooo much fun - meeting Gaians, signing posters, and talking on the panel.
The Panel
The first day I went was on Saturday, about an hour before the Gaia panel was supposed to begin. I was looking for the exhibit hall where it was supposed to happen, and I caught a line stretching down a long, long hallway. That was the place.
I had to go out before the panel began to grab my little sister Tashasan, and when I left the exhibit hall, the line had increased in size to the point where it filled the hallway, and went around the corner into the main lobby of San Jose's Convention Center.
I grabbed my sister and her friend (who were waiting in the registration-line-of-no-return) and when we got back upstairs, the line stretched from the corner, down the lobby wall, past the entrance to one of the other exhibit halls, and further down still. It was pretty clear that for a lot of people, Gaia was one of the biggest deals at the convention.
When the panel started, as many of you had seen, L0cke was dressed up in a chicken suit, with a straight jacket, and tentacle arms (which were graciously provided by a user in the audience cosplaying Vash the Stampede).
The video is now available in Gaia Cinemas, for those of you who want a snapshot. (And it's not in the video, but I gave a shout-out to all the Sheep of Fleep, Sgt.Pepperhat, and Cid High-Wind at the start of the panel, which was met by many "Awwwwwwws" wink .
Autograph Session
Then we were followed by a 2 hour autograph session where we got into the swing of signing dozens and dozens of posters for the lucky Gaians who happened to be able to attend. I now have a different signature-style for each poster we have smile If you get the one where all the NPCs are lying in the grass, I sign my name with a heart and arrow on Liam's shoulder, like a tattoo rolleyes
One fan face-attacked me and left a big kiss-mark on me, which I wore proudly for the rest of Saturday rofl
This was one of my favorite parts of the con because I had the opportunity to meet a lot of Gaians face-to-face for the first time ever. Gaians tend to be very gracious and kind in person -- if I saw you there, then yeah, I'm talking about you!
Sunday
Sunday I scrapped the costume (which was WAY too hot) and opted to be Filipe instead of Fleep. This day was fun because I actually had a chance to check out Artist Alley and see some of the unbelievable work our artists are capable of.
I also got to hang with one of the Sheep, which was nice, as I'd never met any of them in person.
I helped DJ Helsing run the Wheel for a little while, and manned the Gaia booth for a VERY little while (I think I handed people 3 things before I got bored and left).
All in all, Fanime was a lot of fun for me.
Whar'z da quests, Fleep? Whar'z da quests?
So like I said, the best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray (and yes, the original quote was in some sort of crazy Gaelic. Leave me alone!).
I've already had 6 or 7 users say "Where were the quests we were promised?" but LET ME QUOTE MY JOURNAL:
Fleep
This is the part where I tell you ahead of time that I'm going to tell you something I think is cool, but that it's not a promise, and stuff does go wrong, and "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry".
Fleep
There were technical delays, really nothing that we could do. Doesn't mean they're cancelled, but I can't really give you an ETA on when they'll actually be complete.
Catch you later, guys!

Are you getting your vitamins?
Can't have the staff getting sick.
I wish those sort of conventions were given here.
Sounds fun. v.v
I really enjoyed the quests. x3
We had been waiting a long time after the system was released and I think it's making good process.
I don't mind the sponsor ones, but I am excited to hear original ones are on their way.
