Hundred Dollar Note

I think you can do much better than me
After all the lies I made you believe
Guilt kicks in and I start to see
The edge of the bed
Where your nightgown used to be

Ryan smiled shakily at his reflection, it was blurred horribly due to his tears, at least he could still recognise himself. He fell to his knees, his back shook with silent sobs. If only he hadn't accepted that stupid bet! He'd still have his best friend and he wouldn't think of him that way at all.

I told myself I wouldn't miss you
But I remembered
What it feels like beside you

You'll get one hundred from us, if you can make him love you. He had foolishly agreed, god, how could he have been so stupid?! If you can make him love you...

I really miss your hair in my face
And the way your innocence tastes
And I think you should know this
You deserve much better than me

"Hey, Jesse," Jesse had smiled, confused as he was he didn't question why his friend had asked him to stop. Ryan grinned, and tilted the other boy's face upward... It all started then, it never started with the bet. It started with that! That...

While looking through your old box of notes
I found those pictures I took
That you were looking for
If there's one memory I don't want to lose
That time at the mall
You and me in the dressing room

"Come on, just one photo Ry!" Jesse had whined at him, Ryan laughed and pulled the other boy into the change room. Jesse looked toward the curtain warily, he expected it to fall. Ryan hoped that when it would they would be in an incriminating position, just to embarrass his... His what? Ryan didn't have any idea anymore.

I told myself I won't miss you
But I remembered
What it feels like beside you

"Your hair's gelled," Jesse looked up at him with a pout, "Why?" Ryan just smiled mysteriously and placed a small kiss on the blonde's hair. He wrapped his arms around the shorter boy and held him in place as he squirmed.

"No one will see, don't worry." His smile softened when the blonde ceased his struggles and he couldn't help but hold him tighter.

I really miss your hair in my face
And the way your innocence tastes
And I think you should know this
You deserve much better than me

"Jesse, I'm not going to do anything. Scout's honour." Jesse raised a skeptical brow, Ryan had never been a good Scout. Ever. "Just this."

Any questions Jesse had were silenced by the chapped lips of his companion.

The bed I'm lying in is getting colder
Wish I never would've said it's over
And I can't pretend that I won't think about you when I'm older
Cause we never really had our closure
This can't be the end

"A bet, Ry? I'm glad I mean so [******** much to you!" Ryan couldn't speak as he watched his kind natured friend vent like his heart depended on it, "So how much was it, huh? You'd do anything for a buck, wouldn't you Ry? So, how much was my love worth to you? Fifty? No, it's probably less. thirty, fifteen? Tell me when I'm getting close!"

"Je-"

"SHUT UP! I-I..." Jesse took a deep breath, as if willing the bile in his throat and his tears to go back down, "I-I've got to go."

I really miss your hair in my face
And the way your innocence tastes
And I think you should know this
You deserve much better than me

Ryan held the one hundred dollar note in front of his face, would it burn like it did in the movies? Maybe, if he was lucky, he could sort everything out with Jesse one day. He looked over to his calendar, it had been weeks since then. If he had any chance before it was probably too late now...

I really miss your hair in my face
And the way your innocence tastes
And I think you should know this
You deserve much better than me

Jesse paused as he felt someone slip something into his coat pocket, he turned around startling his six year old daughter of whose hand he held. Hesitantly, he slipped his free hand into his pocket pulling out a crumpled and slightly burnt one hundred dollar note. Ryan...

(And I think you should know this)
(You deserve much better than me)
