• Stormbreaker watched as the frosty air froze his breath. The woods had begun to feel winter's icy grasp as it creeped closer, and closer. His heart was racing with excitement as his paws thudded softly against the cold earth. The time had come for him to show his worth to the pack. He slowed down to a halt as he came to a break in the forest. It was a small clearing where the fresh frost glinted in the moonlight. He watched through the thicket as the edges around the clearing slowly filled with his pack. The air tingled with excitement. Slowing his breathing, he took the step into the clearing. As he entered the clearing became quiet. His dark blue fur was unusal, but not as unusual as his icy blue eyes. He held his head high, and waited for his opponent to arrive.

    After what seemed to feel like eons, a brown wolf with golden eyes slowly entered the clearing. His stare was piercing, and seemed to dig right through Stormbreaker's eyes. He kept the wolf's glare, refusing to resign. Dawntreader. He thought to himself. Both wolves began to slowly walk around the circular clearing. There pawsteps made little sounds, both engaged in not only a battle of strength, but mental one.

    Dawntreader made the first move. It came suddenly and quick. He lashed out with his mouth open showing his razor sharp fangs. Stormbreaker leaped, and met him head on. They collided with growls, each trying to n** the other. Stormbreaker leaped back as Dawntreader tried to grab him by the throat. Dawntreader pushed on until they reached the edge of the clearing, where Stormbreaker leaped high over Dawntreader. When he landed, he twisted around, and snapped hard at Dawntreader's leg. His teeth connected with bone, and he instantly released, and jumped back as Dawntreader turned around to grab his scruff. Stormbreaker could taste the warm blood in his mouth. He growled at Dawntreader. Dawntreader responded with a louder growl. His left hind-leg was bleeding largely, and it was increasingly painful, but Dawntreader didn't show it. Instead he charged at Stormbreaker, and managed to catch him by suprise. He managed to nick him in the middle of his back, before narrowling missing the snap of Stormbreaker's jaws. They clashed again, and again until they both were covered with bite marks, and scraps. Panting heavily Stormbreaker made a final, and desperate move. He leaped up using his last bit of strentgh, and landed on top of Dawntreader. He caught the wolf by suprise, and locked his teeth into Dawntreader's scruff. He growled menacingly and pulled his jaws tighter. Dawntreader whined, and went limp. Stormbreaker stepped off of him triumphantly. He watched with smugness as Dawntreader lay low before him, understanding his defeat. He raised his head towards the moon, and howled in victory. At last he was the highest of the high. He was the new Alpha Wolf.
