The first to come in was a tanned skinny old man with a mustache. "Hey there Katie....did you sweep the kitchen?" Laura just shook her head. He just gave a mean look and walked off with a frustrated sigh. Next to come in was the older sister she saw in the picture. "You going to that small cookie thing?" She asked as she set down her baby girl. "Small cookie thing?", she asked confused. "Grandma Ella's?" Laura didn't know how to answer. The skinny old man came in,"Yeah she's coming!" "Ok dad but she needs to watch the baby tonight!" The sister said as she slipped off the baby's jacket. "Ok Katie let's go!" the father said going out the door. "Alright." She followed him to a golden truck and put that baby in the back seat. They drove for about 5 hours. Katie listened to the mp3 player half the way and the other half she thought about how to change back to herself. They arrive at a wooden cottage in the middle of the country. "Hi there honey." Said a wrinkly thin woman. "This must be Grandma Ella." Laura thought as she hugged her. Something about this grandma made her nervous and cautious. Hours went by as she met some cousins and uncles. Laura often went into the fields and read the journal and listened to music. They ate a big christmas dinner and talked for a while. Going home was a long ride....Laura was so sleepy she fell asleep leaning on the window. When she woke up her neck was stiff and her left leg was totally numb. Once they were back at home she had chores to do. "Clean the counter. It won't take you 5 minates." "Watch Lydia while I do some errands." "Sweep the floor! It looks aweful!" "Don't forget to fold the clothes." Soon she was heaped with chores! When she was herself all she had to do was clean her own room and do the dishes after dinner. Exhausted laying across the bed she thought,"How does she do it?" Laura looked around for something to do. "Tv, computer, music, or a videogame.....there those weird backward books she has." She said thinking about what to do. She opened the closet door and grabbed one of the odd books. When she started reading the book it was kind of hard but after around half way she got used to it. She read all the manga in the closet and some that was left out on the bed. "Wow...when I'm myself I am going to buy those!" Laura sat on the floor digging through messy drawers. "What a pack rat. Is that easter candy?" She thought as she pawed through the organized mess. The dad stormed into the room. "Katie! I told you to sweep the kitchen floor!!!" He yelled. "But I did." She persisted. "Go do it again...properly!" Laura let out a big sigh and went to sweep. the floor looked perfect except a few cookie crumbs. She swept again and went on the computer. She checked the weather, the news, and her e-mial. "I wonder what stuff Katie does." She opened the favorites and found quite a lot. "Gaiaonline, ASL Archives, Cute Overload, and what is tektek?" She clicked on a few and found them interesting. "This furcadia game is really cool! I love being a bunny." After playing on the computer for about an hour the dad came in. "Sorry I yelled at you. You know I have a short temper and I am on medication for it." A few minates later he came barging in. "Go clean that room!" Laura was getting tired of this. "Poor Katie has to live with him." She pondered as she put away clothes. "What's this?" She said aloud as she opened up an instrument case. "It's a viola....my friend plays one of these." She thought as she picked it up and plucked the strings. She put the viola up and cleaned the rest of the room. The job made her very tired and hungry. "Ok Katie time to watch Lydia." Laura was ready to cry. She put the baby on the couch, turned on a kid show, and started making dinner. She fed Lydia then herself. Lydia started throwing down so Laura tried putting her to bed. It didn't work...she was up till midnight trying to put Lydia to bed. Finally around one in the morning they both fell asleep. The next morning Laura woke up with a big yawn. She felt for Lydia but she wasn't there. "Uh-oh!" She jumped out of the bed and found herself in her own room. Was it all a dream? She looked around her room grateful for every little thing. Then she noticed something on her desk. A pink peice of paper that read: "Be grateful what you have and what you don't have. That's what I learned from living your life. Thanks!" and at the bottom in blue ink it was signed, "Forever Thankful.....Katie Murrell"
