Aramis had become a father. After a number of ravaging fights and arguments, some of which turned downright violent, he and Honnete had made up just in time for his daughter's impending birth. They'd reconciled mere weeks before the due date, with Aramis deciding to leave his old life behind him in hopes of finding happiness within his new family. He'd moved in with Honnete for a second time, and were getting along fairly well again when the first birth pangs started. A nervous joy washed over him, and although his trip to the hospital was all a blur, the final results tattooed his heart forevermore. He became a father. Sliding up beside his wife in her hospital bed, Aramis cautiously gathered his newborn daughter in his arms as her mother looked on approvingly. He could hardly contain himself, and only managed to do so for fear of losing his grip of newborn Adrianna.
"Jesus Christ, she's gorgeous," Aramis sobbed, quickly placing a hand over his mouth and swallowing hard. She was the most beautiful little thing he'd ever seen... and she was so tiny. As large as Honnete's tummy had become during her pregnancy, Adrianna herself was so small, much smaller than he thought she would be. So very tiny, so delicate, so needy and dependent... and his. He laughed aloud at this thought, this tall, 6-foot-4 man with such a tiny little baby in his arms, and hands that have killed many holding a bottle to a newborn's lips. The same hands he used to strangle to change diapers, tickle tummies, and brush hair. As brand new as she was to the world, Adrianna had changed him forever. Aramis had had many titles before: Aramis, the guy from Meenah. Aramis, the drunk. Aramis, the murderer. Aramis, the playboy. Aramis, the priest. But no title he'd ever held had as much significance as this one... Aramis, father of Adrianna.
So far, Adrianna looked like her mother. That was a good thing, in his mind, at least. Honnete was beautiful, and although he knew Adrianna would grow up to be just as beautiful, he nevertheless readied himself for the boys that would be calling on her, the dates and the engagement... No, too soon... He didn't want to think of such things now. Right now, Adrianna was still new, still so very depended on her mother and himself. He secretly wished she'd stay this way forever.
