Its about a girl named Kusakabe Maron. By day she is an ordinary teenage girl trying to survive highschool, but by night she transforms into her alter ego Kaito Jeanne, the reincarnation of Jeanne d'arc an agent of God. (Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne translates into Phantom Theif Jeanne in english) With the help of angel-in-training Finn Jeanne excorsises and captures demons that lie within paintings and transforms them into Chess Pieces. Jeanne is a highly wanted criminal because she 'steals paintings' and after she steals them within a few minutes the old painting turns into a new painting of an angel. The new painting is always better so the victims never want to press charges. And they're usually happier afterward. This is because the owner of the painting is possesed by the demon.
Maron is attempting to take all of the demons because they were put there by Satan so weaken God. Soon enough a new transfer student comes named Nagoya Chiaki (-fanits- heart lol). We can of course tell, but Maron is clueless. Soon after Chiaki moves in theres a new Kaito trying to steal the paintings! This is Kaito Sinbad. (Like I said, we can of course tell that the new kaito is Chiaki) Kaito Sinbad is supposed to be Jeanne's arch enemy because Sinbad is an agent of Satan! (Later on you find out that Chiaki doesn't know hes working for Satan. Chiaki also has an angel-in-training sidekick, but this is the Dark Angel Access Time!) Chiaki is always hitting on Maron, but Maron isn't interested in low-life pick-up-artists. But she doesn't know that Chiaki is only doing this to trick her. "Its only a whim" he says. Chiaki only wants to get close to Jeanne's alter ego. (Later on Chiaki actually falls in love with Maron and she returns his love heart ) "But theres gotta be boudaries" Maron says. They're ennimies, therefore they cannot be together. crying
Also, the main detective on Jeanne's case is Miyako, Maron's bestfriend! Miyako wants to catch Jeanne because rumors went around that Maron might be Jeanne because they look somewhat alike. But Miyako is out to prove that they are all faulsly accusing her. (They really aren't)
Well, thats the main gist. Its so much better to have read it though! A wonderful, wonderful manga! Sorry if I went overboard with the explanation though... sweatdrop
