Zombie AU Prompts: What Were You Doing When The Zombie Apocalypse Happened? I found myself with a list of scenarios after brainstorming for a Zombie Apocalypse AU story. All you have to do is write a short story (like a drabble, ficlet or one-shot) inspired by one of these. Some of which may sound very familiar. You don’t have to follow the scenario exactly unless you want to. Or you can do a long multi-chapter story if that’s what you want to do instead. You can also use any character (or more than one) -- such as an original character, canon character, self-insert or reader-insert. You pretty much have free reign with this. 1. You’re in the middle of teaching when the PA System clicks on with an emergency announcement that the entire building is in lockdown... 2. You’re a nurse about to head home after a long night shift when... 3. You’re a barista at a cafe. It’s a very quiet morning because the quarantine is in effect, so most of the people are staying at home. Some businesses like the cafe are allowed to stay open as long as the customers take their coffee and pastries to go. You and your coworkers are being very careful to keep contact with customers to a minimal and to constantly disinfect everything. However, one particular customer is being difficult... 4. You’re on the train heading home when... 5. Your car breaks down on a quiet suburban street at night. You have no choice but to call for a tow truck and wait for them. While you’re in your car waiting, you notice the lights turn on at the house on the end of the street. There’s nothing unusual about it, so you go back to browsing on your phone when... 6. You’re stuck in traffic when... 7. You’ve been invited to your friend’s (or family member) wedding. On the night of the reception... 8. You’re a computer repair technician. You meet with your first client, a woman who hasn't been able to hook up to the Internet for two days. You’re a Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer (or epidemiologist) dispatched to investigate the origin of a unknown epidemic that is quickly spreading. However, it’s only a week when the first infected thought to be dead suddenly begin to crawl out from the mass graves... 14. You’re a bartender and you’re cleaning everything that the night bartender forgot to clean, and organizing everything to prepare for your shift (like refilling ice, replenishing garnishes, liquor stock inventory and so on).
