In this prompt, you must start the story with: Back in 1938, before...
Back in 1938, before we had to move again I remember often going to my Granddads house for tea. He lived in a small cottage on the outskirts of our village with his dogs, a blind Jack Russell and a very old Yorkshire terrier with three legs. I was ten years old and it was always very exciting for me as my Granddad knew lots and lots of old stories. My favorite was the one about the time he met a mutant named Pepper.
When they first met she was resting after running miles after miles from an angry mob. She was on a fallen tree, panting with tears running down her flushed cheeks. She was about to run off again but Granddad convince her that he wasn't going to hurt her and just wanted to help. He could see that she was exhausted and scared, with dark circles under her eyes and the ends of her dress dirty and torn.
He didn't see a dangerous woman, but a frighten one. So Granddad being the giant teddy bear he is, he offer her food, shelter and a peace of mind. Over time, they grew closer and he learn of why she was running away. She was a mutant and came from a village that was prejudiced for things that were different. They didn't care that she was a kind-heart woman that owned a bakery and made the most delicious cakes and desserts in the world. They feared what she could do -- or what she might do. So they called her a witch, baring torches and farming tools as weapons and they chased her out of town. She lost everything that day, only having the clothes on her back.
But she also gained a lot more after that. Granddad and her fell in love, soon after they got married and had two children. Then their children had children and now I'm here. Because this is my favorite story, I decided to open a little tea shop and bakery, called Mägi in the honor of my Grandparents -- Aleks and Pepper Mägi.
