It was just announce that the first story-based downloadable content for BioShock Infinite is called Burial at Sea and will take players back to Rapture, which has been completely rebuilt using the new engine of the game. This is what we know so far about the DLC from the short trailer.
Booker is a private investigator in Rapture.
It takes place in December 31, 1958 — which is the day before the Civil War between Atlas and Andrew Ryan happen.
Booker is still a gambler in this universe, as seen by the gambling sheets on his desk.
Booker still has A.D. mark on his hand.
The Luteces might be in it. We do see a scene of just a man and woman standing next to a railing and it’s possible that it could be them. They many not be the same people we know them as and it could be possible that only one of them will appear in the game.
Elizabeth is a little older than the one we’re familiar with in Infinite, and she still has her stub pinky.
Elizabeth is now a playable character and is able to participate in battles using her wit and abilities.
Now this next bit will contain some spoilers for those that have not yet played BioShock Infinite, especially if they didn’t finish it. You’ve been warn.
In that Rapture universe it’s safe to say that Booker gamble Anna away and she was taken to pay off his debt. But the question is…how did she end up in Rapture? Has she been there all that time or did she enter through a Tear? What about Booker, how did he end up in Rapture? Did he give Anna up and then went to down to Rapture? Was it Comstock who took her? Or was it someone else? Some people’s theory suggest that maybe Andrew Ryan, is actually a Comstock version of Booker in that universe. But such a theory brings up more questions, like what about Jack?
Does Jack exist in that universe? We know that Comstock couldn’t have children because of the Tears technology. So it would be impossible for him to have Jack if he really is Ryan. Unless Jack doesn’t exist anymore because Elizabeth replaces him. Either way, if see Booker and Elizabeth using the bathyspheres that are on lockdown, using the Vita-Chambers to revive themselves, than that would be a dead give away that Andrew Ryan is Booker in that universe. After all, only those with similar genetic structure to Andrew Ryan are able to use those things.
There’s just so many questions and possibilities. Even though it’s too soon to make any solid predictions, people can’t wait to learn more about pre-fall Rapture and to know the story of this Booker and Elizabeth. So in the meantime people will be killing their wait time with theories and predictions about what the DLC might have in it. So what do you think the DLC will be about? What do you hope it has?
