It was the beginning of a brand new school year. Summer vaction had come to a close and everyone was looking forward to seeing their friends from school. The hallways were filled with chatter about things that had acquire over the break. Typical first day.
The main doors to the school opened and a girl with long flowing blonde hair and light brown eyes walked in. Most of the students looked at her with a curious look on their faces. They had never seen her before.
"I didn't know we had a new student this year." One of the girls said.
"Yeah she moved here like two weeks ago with her dad and older brother. She lives in the really old scary house." Another girl said.
"The haunted one?" The first girl asked.
"Yeah that's the one." The other girl answered.
The new girl made her way to her locker and put her books inside of it. She looked around the hall at all of the wandering eyes. "First days suck." She said quietly to herself.
"Welcome to the school new girl." A group of passing jocks said.
"It's Amy." She said softly.
"Well then welcome to the school Amy." One of the boys said correcting himself.
She left out a soft sigh before closing her locker door and headed for her first class. Her first class was art. She figured it would be her favorite class since she spent most of her time drawing. She walked into the class and took her seat close to the window in the far back of the class. She didn't like being in the front of the class where everyone could see her.Other students made their way into the class room before the bell rang. Everyone seemed so warm and cheery. It was odd for her.
"Welcome back to school for yet another year of fun." The teacher said with an interjetic tone. "I'm Mrs. Hughes for those of you who don't know me. For the first day back at school I want you to draw me something that describes you. It will be due at the end of the week so I don't want any half a** work." She said.
Amy smiled. She already liked the teacher. She took out her sketch book and pondered for a moment what she was going to draw. So many thing popped into her head. She decided to draw a collage of things that reminded her of herself.
Before she knew it the bell had rang and it was time for her next class. P.E. She hated P.E. though she was good at most sports. It would be the first year she would be in a co-ed class. She headed to the girls locker room then made her way to the track where the rest of the class was.
"Hello class, I'm coach Trevino, today we will be playing soccer. Boys vs. Girls. Good luck girls." He said tossing one of the boys the ball. The entire class headed towards the soccer field. Amy loved soccer she just hoped the girls wouldn't be afraid of the ball. Just as Amy thought once the game began most of the girls ran away from the ball instead of towards it. Amy was the only girl really getting into the game. She had scored a few goals but without the help of the rest of the girls there was no chance of winning.
The game ended and the boys won. Everyone was taking a break and sitting on the bleachers. The girls talked about the boys and the boys talked away the game. Amy went out to the water fountain to get something to drink. There was still half of the period left before her next class. She walked back to the bleachers and walked up to the top and sat there in silence.
