Now that I think about it, listen to "Telephone" by Lady Gaga when you read this. It fits the topic. XD
Don't you hate it when someone calls you and when the answering machine appears they suddenly hang up? Or worst they wait for the machine to finish talking only to hang up after the beep? In doing so they leave a blank message on your machine making you think there's a message but instead, what's recorded is the sound of them hanging up. I hate it. Really, is it that freaking difficult to leave a message? I can understand having a wrong number and knowing that the person you are calling doesn't have one. But that doesn't excuse others that called again only to repeat it. Just because you called twice, got the machine then hang up DOES NOT mean that in the third try someone will magically pick up. I like my machine. It pretty much cockblocks all the telemarketers because they want a live person to talk to so they don't bother dealing with a machine. Plus, when I'm home and someone starts to leave a message and I recognize who they are I pick it up. It's my form of caller I.D. since I don't actually have it. Sure it's a little weird but it beats paying extra and keeps a person from having a boring and wasteful conversation with a telemarketer. Most people that know me, know to leave a simple message like, "Hey! It's so and so. I'm calling because blah blah. Call me back." or "Hey! Paula, it's so and so. Pick up the phone." and after that I pick up the phone because I know who they are and that's only if I'm home or around. But that was years ago. I haven't used a phone (including a cell phone because I don't own one) since....hmmm last year. It was when my sis called me to see how the cats and I were doing while she was having a lunch break from work. But I honesty don't remember the time before then when I used the phone. The only thing I'm recalling is in the summer for an anime convention. Yeah, seems crazy that I don't use the phone a lot but you can't blame me. I much rather aim/instant message people on the computer instead of talking on the phone. Goodness, speaking of which I totally sound like a little girl (that's another thing. I can't be taken seriously on the phone because everyone assumes and believes I'm a little girl. Even more so with those stupid companies, like Verizon, AOL, etc.) and I'm really awkward on it just because I'm not use to talking on it. Or maybe it's because I'm a quite person and rather be quite and use my hands to do the talking by keyboard? Either way, I've learned to live without it. Sure it makes me a little jealous that everyone around me has one but if I did get one it'll be a waste. My lifestyle doesn't involve me talking to people on a daily bases (no that's a lie. I do, with my besties and close friends. But that doesn't count since I do so online and not by phone) The only time I would use a phone is if I have to call someone for something important and/or an emergency. It'll be a waste for me to pay for service if I get a cell phone, when I don't really use it. Or a waste of unused minutes if you have a prepaid one. I always fear using up minutes or fear not using it in time when nothing important happens. If I was to get a phone it would depend on what it is and it has to be something that allows for internet and aim/texting because I'm sure I would take full advantage of that feature. XD Of course, if I was to get a phone and someone calls, please do NOT hang up once the machine answers and it's after the beep. Because a lot of people don't hang up in time and I rather have an actually message of "It's so and so. Call me back." then a stupid blank message taking space. That has become such a pet peeve of mine. I just can't stand it because on my land line phone, people call but never leave a message. Even when my dad put out an ad for renting an apartment the people interested hardly (for example 3 out of 20 bother to leave a message and I'm sure those 20 tried repeatedly to call until they got in contact with a human being) left messages. I don't know why they are scared to leave a message. It's not set in stone. It's going to be deleted and they should just leave a message like ripping a bandage. Does anyone else have any telephone pet peeves or something?
