"Hannah Starke was the first to die. And the first to come back. In the small town of Dandridge they all come back. The buried claw their was out of their graves. The recently killed get up and kill. As the dead attack the living, the number of living get worse and worse. In the middle of it all stands a dark, shadowy figure, a stranger in town with an unspeakable goal. If he is successful, death will rule Dandridge and the terror will continue to spread until all hope is lost. Who can defeat an army of the living dead? Who can stand face-to-face against the...DEATHBRINGER?" This was the very first book I bought on my own when I was old enough. It was also the first that fed the fuel to my growing interest in horror books and zombies. I remember reading this during the weekend and bringing it with me on a school trip to Washington, DC. I spent that time on the bus reading it, creeping my friend out with the gory details in the book and managing to finished it in those three hours. It wasn't that great, but it was still a good read, especially if you like zombie fiction and want to fill up your time with something. The story itself isn't horrible either and it did have moments of creative twists but overall not the most amazing thing I've ever read but it's decent. I think it could have been a lot more better if it focus on the characters. It would make them feel more human if the readers see their struggle, feel their desperation in surviving and stopping it. It would make connecting with the characters better pull people into the story.
