Recently I've been hearing about a new television that premiered on the AMC network on Halloween and it has peaked my interest. Honestly, anything dealing with zombies interest me, not because I'm weird but it just amuses me and I like to see what people can bring to it. Anyway, the series follows a small group of survivors traveling across the desolate United States in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse as they search for a new home away from the shuffling hordes of the undead. Led by Rick Grimes, a former sheriff's deputy, the group's increasing desperation to survive pushes them to the brink of insanity. At every turn they are faced with unspeakable horrors, both from those who are dead, and from the scattered remains of a struggling human populace. The Walking Dead TV Show is also based on the comic version of The Walking Dead, written by zombie fanatic Robert Kirkman (of Marvel Zombies fame). Fans of the Walking Dead show who’ve never read the comic, though, might not realize just how closely the TV show follows the comic in some cases, and how far it diverges in others. So I can't compare the show with the comic since I've never read the comic but from what I can tell the show isn't that bad. They keep things to a realistic level like how it's important to not waste ammo, the hindering effects of firing in an enclosed area, they showed the adrenaline of melee combat and how being/going to a city is extremely dangerous because the number of the undead is too much to handle. I also like how the show focuses on a lot of the human emotion. How each character feels and reacts in a desperate situations and how they handle surviving so far. The thought of what would you do if a loved one got infected and if they would be able to kill them. Watching a show like that is pretty exciting and interesting. It digs deep into the zombie apocalypse and the survivors. Unlike a movie where it's all about action, the first outbreak, how people handle it and the living getting from one place to a safer/safe haven. This show has a lot of room to go further than movies and from what I've seen, such as the killing of a little zombie girl the show might be able to get away with a lot more and it makes the series a lot more enticing to those who shy away from cable networking based on the censorship. The show keeps us on our feet always, we don't know how the zombie outbreak occur, what the cause of it or what's going around the world. All we know is what the writers and director shows us. We're focus on the survivors and who and what they face as they fight to keep living and keep themselves sane. Also these zombies aren't stupid. In most zombie movies, they mindlessly walk around, searching for food and that's it. However, in the show they have some brain function. For example; in one of the episodes a zombie pick up a rock to use it to break a glass door. These zombies use their senses very keenly and that makes them much more dangerous, especially their sense of smell and sight. Oh and make sure to lock your doors. A biggest mistake a survivor could do is assume they are too dumb to turn the door knob. All in all, I like this show and I will be waiting for the next episode. Oh, and for those who are curious and want to check it out, head to hulu.com. They stream the first episode of "The Walking Dead" for free. Otherwise, it's on the AMC channel, every Sunday at 10 pm.
