ooc: Hello, popsicles. I'm freezing and bored, and I haven't used a certain character in a long time, so I decided to make a board.
Rules: -What I say goes. -Post what you want to join as when you ask to join, and tell me what to call you. -No chatspeak, please, unless it's ooc. Even then I'd prefer a minimum. -Speaking of ooc, use it. -All those other rules I don't feel like posting.
In the lush land of Araelua, there are many types of creatures, both humanoid and... Not so humanoid. Unlike many nations, there aren't humans in this country, and what few there are live in little tribal villages, leading quiet lives. Most of the population is made up of faeries, dwarves, naiads, dryads, elves, pixies, and the like. The faeries are vain, the size of humans, and though -c-
they lack wings, they can fly with ease. The dwarves are a warlike people, constantly battling amongst themselves, war breaking out over the pettiest squabbles. Because of this they are the best fighters around, and often hired as mercenaries, despite their unfortunate lack of height. Naiads inhabit the lakes, rivers and seas throughout and surrounding Araelua, and each type of naiad has a -c-
different stereotype, depending on where they live. River naiads are chatty and energetic, lake naiads usually calm, if a little curious, sea naiads wild and mystical, always dancing. The dryads are calm as the trees they come from, usually staying in one place for much of their lives. They have longevity, and can take the form of a tree whenever they wish. Elves make up most of the ruling -c-
class, and are known for their beauty and wisdom, though most of them are not warriors, and some have never even /seen/ a weapon. Pixies are tiny little things, with either bird or butterfly wings. They are curious and playful, always zipping around to investigate new things. Almost everyone in Araelua possesses magic of some description, whether it is elemental magic, the ability to speak with-c-
animals (or a certain type of animal), telekineses, or a mix of little bits and pieces of abilities. Some are more gifted than others, and the most powerful of these is known as a magician. Naiads and dryads usually have a great deal of magic with water and earth respectively, and all faeries possess the ability to fly. For thousands of years, Araelua has been a peaceful country (aside from the-c-
numerous dwarfish wars, of course), but now trouble rears its ugly head. There is rumor of discontent from the human villages, and recently the elvish ambassador has stopped sending reports to the capital, Linthag. A small party of elite warriors and magicians of all species has been gathered, and is being sent to see what they can find out about the whispers of rebellion, and put a stop to it -c-
if they can. Of course, those participating in the little expedition are being paid extravagantly, and if they are successful, they have been promised promotions and land. It is the first night of their journey, and they have just set up camp in a little clearing in the forest. So far, everyone has got along reasonably well, but it isn't entirely certain how long this will last. -d-
bic: Komi sat by a little brook that ran through their camp, looking thoughtful with her chin resting on her curled toes. Her arms were behind her, supporting her, while she propped one foot on her other knee (both legs were drawn up to her chest), and rested her head on the higher foot, as a normal person might rest his chin on his fist. Of course, Komi wasn't a normal person. She was a naiad,-c-
and a contortionist to boot. She loved twisting herself into seemingly impossible shapes, and would often do it whilst making casual conversation, which usually made people at least a little nervous. She was pretty, by naiad standards, with a well-shaped face, full lips, and wide, innocent eyes. And, of course, she was entirely blue. Her eyes were blue (even the 'whites'), her wavy hair was -c-
blue, her skin was blue, her pointed ears were blue... In fact, the only non-blue thing about her was her teeth, which were round and pearly white. Fortunately, she was completely opaque... Seeing things through someone one was speaking to would be rather unnerving. She combed her fingers through her hair, fiddling with the length. Since she was composed entirely out of water, somehow hardened -c-
so that it took on the normal textures of skin, hair, and clothes, and could "un-harden" herself at will, it was easy to change how long her hair and nails were, though for some reason she couldn't change the shape of her face or how tall she was. No naiad could, and magicians were still trying to figure out why. Pulling a ball of water from the stream, she twirled it around then held it up to -c-
the ends of her hair, allowing it to join with the water that formed her, lengthening until her tresses reached her waist. Smiling in satisfaction, she turned next to her clothes, which were also made entirely of water. She transformed her coarse, hardy (and, obviously, blue) traveling clothes into a knee-length tunic and tight leggings, though she left her feet bare, as she never wore shoes -c-
unless she absolutely had to. That taken care of, she uncurled herself and stood, turned a cartwheel, and sidled over to the campfire (though she didn't get too close), intending to speak to her companions. After all, one could only entertain oneself with hair and clothes for so long. -d-
