Blah, I always hate Valentine's day. I'm dreading it tomorrow. I'm always lonely and so bored on that day. Meh, it's going to be hard to escape it when everywhere I go people mention it and stuff. So this time I'm just going to be reading a lot of books...stories or whatever. Maybe it'll help me escape this reality and be pulled into a fantasy adventure. Which is why I've been asking people for some book recommendation so I can check them out and hopefully get at some point to read them. Below are some books that have been suggested and sound pretty good to me. Does anyone agree? If not you can always suggest to me more books that you think I will like. I'll add on more to this list if I find more books that interest me.
A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb (Romance) In the class of the high school English teacher she has been haunting, Helen feels human eyes looking at her for the first time in 130 years. The Forest of Hands And Teeth by Carrie Ryan (Fantasy, Horror, Romance) Mary’s world comprises a small village of about 200 people, which is surrounded by a thick, heavy fence. On the other side of the fence in the forest lies a disease filled with terror and a fate worse than death. But Mary needs to know if there is anything beyond the forest. No one seems to have the answers, and if they do, they aren’t telling. Ironside: A Modern Faery's Tale by Holly Black (Fantasy, Romance) IRONSIDE is Holly Black's third dark faery tale and the second to feature Kaye, a changeling pixie who grew up thinking she was a human girl. Awakening together nine months later in the forest near the crash site, they still wear the clothes of the day they died. It seems they are stuck between life and death like many other kids in Everlost. Life will never be the same now that they are dead. Doctor Illuminatus: The Alchemist's Son by Martin Booth (Fantasy, Mystery, Science Fiction) The sounds Pip hears coming from inside the walls of the centuries-old estate which her family has just moved to are not mice; they are Sebastian, a 600-year old boy, who is trying to communicate with Pip and her twin brother, Tim. Sebastian, the only son of a medieval alchemist, has awakened to warn them that they are in danger from his mortal enemy, de Loudéac, an evil alchemist who is determined to seize control of the world. Now Pip, Tim, and Sebastian must stop time, use magic, and overcome their fears as they fight against the forces of evil in Doctor Illuminatus: The Alchemist's Son. Heir Apparent by Vivian Velde Vande (Fantasy, Science Fiction) Giannine got a birthday present from her father this year, on time no less: a gift certificate to Rasmussem Gaming Center, the leader in total immersion virtual reality. Shade's Children by Garth Nix (Sci-fi, Fantasy) In a city of the future, in a world with no adults, the creatures walk. But the Life Brothers despise the new immortals and may possess the knowledge to end even immortal lives. And others, unknown to Jessica, are searching for her and Fana: Lucas Shepard, a Florida doctor driven to desperation by his young son's untreatable leukemia; ruthless mercenaries in the pay of an aging medical-company executive, who will stop at nothing to gain immortality and the billion-dollar profits that a drug based on the living blood would bring; and a supernatural being or force called the Bee Lady, who stalks Fana in the world of dreams, seeking to possess Fana's mind and powers for her own evil purposes.
