It has been a glorious two years since the Phoenix King was defeated, robbed of his power and imprisoned for life. Since then, the villages destroyed have been rebuilt, and Ba Sing Se has been restored to almost its full former glory. The Northern Water Tribe has repaired its city, as well, and has resumed communication with the Southern Water Tribe. Aang has managed to find airbenders who went-c-
into hiding when their comrades were hunted in such a vicious fashion. Of course, the imprisonment of Firelord Ozai doesn't make things perfect. Some firebenders from the Fire Nation armies have become outlaws, roaming the lands, pillaging and plundering where they can. Some of the members of the Fire Nation are restentful of their new Firelord who, after all, was branded a coward and-c-
banished long ago. Firebenders are distrusted by many, despite the efforts of some to make peace with the other nations. Today is the first of a four-day festival that shows signs of becoming a tradition. People everywhere are celebrating the triumph of the Avatar, and in Ba Sing Se the streets are crowded with those who have come to the main body of the festival, which is to be held there. -c-
People from all four nations pack the city, and an embassy from the Fire Nation was due to arrive that very day. A great commotion was caused by the appearance of several bedraggled-looking officials in fire nation garb, who were quickly ushered to the Earth King's palace. The story, known only to a select few, is that the Fire Nation ambassadors were attacked only an hour's journey on foot from -c-
their destination. The details are unknown, as they can't tell for sure who attacked them. One of them said that the events were all a blur. Needless to say, they were equipped with new clothing at once, and are now mingling with the crowd as if nothing's wrong. This, however, is far from the truth. Who would attack diplomats, and from the Fire Nation? Is some new rebel group forming?-c-
Is peace, after all, just a dream? Too good to be true? -d-
