( again for sissy - something I wrote for the kink meme a while ago. unedited and whatnot. XD ; )
Earth stared into the pool, a sheet of still glass, her godly television screen, watching what transpired upon it with unreadable eyes. Her face was tucked into an expression of disapproval, at the very least. She had witnessed her children scuffle before, had even intervened at certain times, but never before had tensions erupted quite like this.
Total war. The words rang in her ears, rattled around her brain like a rattle with only one bead inside. It made her wish for the time far before any of her children's memory, when she wandered among the jungles of her body, had hunted and explored and discovered along with the men scattered over her surface. When she and they lived in harmony, pushing and pulling in time, in tune, to one another.
Her children have forgotten their dignity, it seems. What has happened to the poetry, the fine mosquito's legs of her Yao, the samurai and deadly honor of dearest Kiku, the whitewashed columns and brooding philosophers of Graecia, the regality of Aegyptus? Have her children all forgotten this, their roots as humans, her blood coursing through their veins? Have they forgotten the humanity of their prisoners of war, their poor civilians- that they too, had mothers, had homes?
They forget this all, it seems, and replace it with a convoluted struggle for power, mercy, retribution, honor... She cannot remember, anymore, the labels they placed on the cause of this war. It is all a headache now. Oh, if only they could stop, could look at the sky, the sea, and remember.
Pangaea, Yao, do you remember her well? Of course, my son. You do not forget.
Pangaea, her little castaway, Sea's b*****d with Rock, who was not as elegant, as poised as she; their child was a filthy little thing, with her spears and fire and skins. Pangaea was obviously built for something more than simply being, as Sky and Sea and Air, and all of their varied siblings. And so, as punishment for her crime, she was kept in a house of many, many rooms, empty air for so long.
And then, the first sharp cry of an infant. He had no name, only his air about him, his people. She held him with her rough hands and named him, the word falling from her lips unbidden. That was the first.
You were all one, once, children.
Earth shifted up to her knees, and then to stand; behind her Moon stared, her empty silver eyes surprised, as she stroked the head of her beloved rabbit. Earth considered the two, her sister and her ridiculous pet rabbit, forever pounding mochi, mixing medicine.
"They will worry." were the first silvery words to fall from Moon's mouth, reading her sister's intentions instantly. Moon's face was arranged carefully in a balance of worry, but with an air of control over the situation. It had been so long since Earth had left her home, had left it under the care of Moon. The very thought of control, even for so little time, thrilled the girl to no end. It had been so, so long...
"They can worry. They have their own problems, I am sure." They, of course, referring to Earth's planetary siblings, and their problems, mainly Pluto- the boy was furious, after being labeled a dwarf planet, and was wreaking as much havoc as he could in retribution. It wasn't much, but it was worrying. That was, to the other planets; Earth had more important issues to take care of, nearer to her own home.
"I entrust you with my household. I will return shortly. My children need a visit, after all these years."
And with that, Earth returned home.
