How hard is it to bump into temptation in this crazy world? Not very hard. The devil, it seems, is out on the street, working 24/7, causing pain and heartache in more ways the ever before. We, as Christians, must remain vigilant. Not only must we resist Satan when he confronts us, but we must also avoid those places where Satan can most easily tempt us. And, if we are to avoid the unending temptations of this world, we must arm ourselves with the Word of God.
In a letter to believers, Peter offers a stern warning: "Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour". (1 Peter 5:8 NASB) What was true in New Testament times is equally true in our own. Satan tempts his prey and then he devours them. And it's up to you to make sure that you're not one of those being devoured.
As believing Christians, we must beware because temptations are everywhere. Satan is determined to win; We must be equally determined that he does not.
Thoughts For Today.
Temptation is not a sin. Even Jesus was tempted. The Lord Jesus gives you the strength needed to resist temptation.
A Tip For Today.
At every turn in the road, or so it seems, somebody is trying to tempt you with something. Your job is to steer clear of temptation, and to keep steering clear as long as you live. Remember the old saying: "When it comes to temptation, it's easier to stay out than it is to get out."
A Prayer For Today.
Dear Lord, help me to behave myself like a faithful follower of Your Son. Let me keep Christ in my heart, and let me put the devil in his place: Away from me. Amen.
A Verse For Today.
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the body is weak.
