Personally? I'd read it. It sounds interesting, telling the stories as a part of their travels. I'm a fan of short stories and 100 of them would definetly do me good. I suppose it depends on how you write it. Do you have 100 ghost stories?

I don't have the specific stories worked out yet, but I know what yokai (japanese demons) I want them to center around. I have a list. xd
I tried just writing their story straightforwardly, but I didn't like how it was going so I tried to think of a different approach and I somehow found that article about the lanturn game and a lightbulb went off in my head.

Gosh, you have to write it now. I want to read it. I can't imagine myself having to tell 100 ghost stories.
How many characters will you have. You're not going to actually have 100, right? That would be an amazing amount to work with. eek

I'm thinking I'll post some here in my journal. For feedback and stuff. I just have to plan a few more things and I'll start writing.

No way am I having a hundred characters. xD Only... *counts in head* seven guys were involved in the journey (the master included), two of whom are married and one whose sister is married so the spouses and step-brother will probably be involved, and then I'm going to have some friends of the master's come in and tell some stories.
Traditionally, one would leave the room after telling their story so in theory the game couldn't be played with such a small group, but I figure that not everyone played the game the same exact way, and besides, since all of this stuff is supposed to be based on their real experiences on this journey through Japan, they wouldn't want a bunch of strange people they didn't really know there, and if the master invited like a hundred guests, at least half of them wouldn't be very close friends.
So they'll probably tell their stories, blow out a lanturn but stick around. Because I wouldn't be able to handle a hundred characters

I like your idea with the few characters with him. If they are on their travels, I think it's okay for individuals to tell more than one story.
